I would like to get into doing some more track days and maybe some drifting and get away from santa pod,because im getting a bit bored of straight line stuff,ive done a 10 second quarter which is what ive always wanted to do,but its time to move on. With the engine i have at the moment its nice and quick on the straights and great fun,but i want to go quick around bends too,and unless i put hooooge wheels and arches on my car (which i cant afford to do),i am never going to go any faster around a track due to wheelspinning in every gear So with someone already interested in my engine as a package deal i have been speaking to my engine builder about this little jem of an engine sitting there in his workshop Its a 2.3 engine running 12:1 compression with 48mm Jenveys on it,Doug kiddy crank,rs500 rods,cosworth big valve head (£2k from cosworth on its own) with massive ports,wild cams,solid lifters,double valve springs,dry sumped. The crank pulley is off at the moment because Joe borrowed it for someone elses engine. It runs on Pectel T2 management and comes as a package with exhaust manifold,starter motor,alternator and engine loom. And it made just over 270bhp on Field motorsports engine dyno. I will ask Joe to run it up on his dyno to confirm these figures if i was to go ahead with the purchase. It came out of a G3 tarmac racing mk3 escort which had a 6 speed sequential box on it,the guys selling it cos he is giving the duratec a try. Thing is if i sell mine for what its worth, i wont have that much change left over once i buy this engine to afford to install it in my car,it needs to be an install which doesnt cost me hardly any money (as if that will ever happen lol) but you get what im saying. Also i dont think a standard cossie T5 would last that long with the high revs? plus the 2.9 first gear maybe too short with a 3.7 diff? So whats you guys thoughts?

U might have to change some aspects like the diff (to 3.89) or go for a different engine and pocket some (£) But I'd go for the track day build as your car is pretty much built for them anyway. It's just the other choices choices...

It would cost around £10k to build new,this engine has done 1500 miles on a brand new 200 block.

It's just the other choices choices... Im on an atlas and ratios are hard to come by,4.1's are rare and so are 4.3's but 4.6's and 5.1's are easy to come by. Maybe a type 9 box with 2.5 first gear would be better

Actually your right about the throttle response my cossie is like that(but i would still give ricer racing ago)
