Kev, an honest answer...

De-tune your engine, or perhaps de-tune is the wrong word,

Change the turbo, go small .. aim for 300-350bhp, anymore is wheelspin, but keep the torque up, helps with the ratios and use the torque to drive around the lack of revs.

thats what i was thinking smaller turbo more useable for track days

but atmo FTW!!!!!!!!!

go atmo

 DO IT KEV :ykt: . Ooooooooooh yes mate get it in there and join the Atmo YB Power posse , Baaaaaaaarrrrp , baaaaaaaarrrrrp , baaaaaaaarrrrrp

Well, i dont know you Kev but i have read that you have wanted to go N/A for quite a while now. That engine is a perfect subsitute for your big power turbo engine. You just dont get much more sexy than that!!

I'd say if you were gonna do the change, then that engine is the one to do it with!!

If I was in your shoes I would keep the "turbo" as oppose to going NA.

But, I think Gary's suggestion is the best, you could get big money for your head and turbo and then just have a "mildly" worked head and T3. There's zero lag with that set up and it'll go like fook, plus you hill have a "bomb proof" bottom end.

Having said all that though if someone was to offer you a fair wedge for it I would sell it

So to summerise:

Keep the Turbo, De-tune the turbo and go normally aspirated!:thumbsup:

what is the purpose of going atmo kev, to do track days?

How many you gonna do a year ?

Average cost of a track day,entrance,tyres, brakes,fuel ,breakages ?

Its a rich mans hobby, and I would seriously think about it before you pull

your motor out,cos chances are you could never afford another one of that

spec!

Mind you if you just wanna drive up and down sutton/dagenham high st

going barrrrrp,barrrrrrp,barrrrrrp.........................Go for it!

puddy

You should be in politics Toby

Kev was complaining of lag which was why I suggested the smaller T3, and if he does'nt want big power then he could sell the head and swap for a standard(ish) one........that should leave him with a manageable 300bhp

All these choices

I think in my dreams i would have my car flat fronted with arches and 10x16" wheels on it and it would be a good track monster and i would also like another escort with a quick aspirated engine in it (these are dreams of course lol) ,they are much quicker on the twisty stuff, country lanes etc and the instant throttle response is the nuts, which is what i miss from my old HT engine

I guess i need to think about it long and hard before any decision is made.

But didnt Kev say in his spec that the pistons have been decked to lower compression for the big turbo,by going to smaller turbo and softer cams with those piston would leave a very laggy and sluggish engine.

I own and thrash a Volvo T-5R and hate the fact that its turbo, jsut as the fun starts you have to change gear, cruising at 40 in town the accelerator becomes a switch and its constantly held in the middle position, one bump and it wants to fly....horride.

also trying to shift quickly and react to corners and such doesnt want to know, bit like the cartoon dogs that suddenly wakes up and runs everywhere.

Sounds like a plan Ben

But then i would have to sell my brakes and buy some 280mm discs and AP formula 3000 calipers @£500 a pop

I like the way it handles and stops on 15's

Well if the engine dont sell i may sell the turbo and put something differant on it with less lag and put some wild A.L.S on it
