Toby Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 Foooooking ugly them square dry-sump tanks , get a normal round one and stick it in the boot Have to agree, that does spoil the look under the bonnet a bit. Are there other benefits other than price and a tiny bit of weight?
kris Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 Can't be good hanging the weight of it in front of the axle like that. Boot seems a better place for it. Also, why does that car need 3 bonnet pins??? Is that really needed? Has no one mentioned a super charger yet? Will work on the current engine, will have no lag and great throttle response, and will produce less power all as is wanted.

Retromotorsport Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 Can't be good hanging the weight of it in front of the axle like that. Boot seems a better place for it. The reason is the engines last longer with the dry sump tank up front.. pure and simple, to finish first first you have to finish, and looks dont win races

Are there other benefits other than price and a tiny bit of weight? Arron reckons they are much more efficent under the bonnet. They dont the best but i guess it saves on running all them lines down the car. My mate Jason run -12 hose x2 from front bulkhead to rear firewall, with male/male bulkhead fittings for quick release and fittings at each end and they come to £350 on their own, just the hoes and fittings. Hes got to do in the boot area yet and under the bonnet

4parajon Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 Kev, have you any pics of your bonnet pins mate as I might get some for mine but I dont want them rough arse rally type ones, I need them to be nice and discreet
kevmk2 Posted December 5, 2007 Author Report Posted December 5, 2007 Erm i dont think so mate,my bonnet spends most of its time off the car lol. Mine are just red anodised ones that burtons do. I did want black ones but at the time you couldnt get any,but now you can

Cheers mate, maybe i should try some sticky tyres on it for the road and see what its like,at the moment if i try and floor it from the lights i dont get any grip til 4th gear I still say keep the Turbo And go drifting so the jap sh1te up
Guest MK1gaz Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 I did lots of research into dry sump set ups and you don't need it under the bonnet at all . You can put the tank in the boot if you like as on 100% of the rally cars . Rallying is the most extreme form of motorsport so you'll be ok driving around a few smooth circuits . A quality dry sump tank will not suffer from oil surge no matter how much speed you take around a long corner but be wary of cheap/diy produced dry sump tanks especially the square type ones as they may not swirl the oil and remove all the air pockets
RETRO_AL Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 Makes more sense to put in up front, like kev said you will save loads of the pipe alone, cossie matts is up front in the bay aswell
Guest MK1gaz Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 You'll save a few quid on stainless braided Aeroquipe hose sticking it under the bonnet but i done mine with the cheaper non braided stuff and it wasn't that dear really (plus it looks better )
