Just got in ...... Ian got 358.4 bhp at the flywheel (304 bhp at the wheels) with 328 lbft/torque :thumbsup::thumbsup:

According to EVERYONE there, the results at Torque of the Devil are generally 25/30bhp down on other dyno places but I have to say, their equipment is brand spanky new and the guys and gals there were very, very professional and accommodating :thumbsup:

what a cool day out! Thanks to gaz for sorting it out. I would 100% say the rollers under read a tad, as both my cossie, and mk1 were down from what they usually are.

Was good to meet you jo, and a few new faces to.

Mine made 196 bhp today but 212 bhp last time and i'm definatley blaming the "not very high performance and overpriced" air filter i've recently fitted  (excuses , excuses :lol::lol:). An excellent day and thanks again for everyone who came  . If anyone who wasn't there wants to compare "their" dyno runs from other rolling roads to the readings from the cars today then don't , unless you've ran on the dyno-dynamics "BHP thief" then don't compare  . Also thanks to Retroford mag for shooting the pictures and thanks for everyone who pushed my car about today when starter motor no3 packed up !!!!!!! .........

agree that's the lowest reading i've had on my engine and the last one was only 6 weeks ago  seem to get a differant reading where ever you go but who cares my car performs on the road how i want it to :D and still a great day out :thumbsup:

183bhp & 182torque  happy with that since this engine is only just run in - its yet to be set up properly and its not had my planned 'extras' fitted... even happier if its true that the readings today are down by around 30bhp

Hi guys, just a quick word on the dyno figures.

Some/most of you had figures today lower than what you have had on the rollers in the past, this happens quite often on dyno days at TOTD.

I believe our dyno (and all dyno dynamics) dyno's to be extremely accurate, I had the choice to buy whatever dyno I wanted 9 months ago and chose dyno dynamics over all others, i didnt rush into this, i spoke to various other engine tuners and others who already used them.

most other dyno's use the "overun coast down losses" method of estimating flywheel horsepower (note: NO chassis dyno can measure flywheel horsepower, its purely an estimate), but how can you measure transmission losses on the overun?, transmission losses grow the more power you make!

I believe my dyno is the most accurate chassis dyno i have used in 12 years, do your other dyno operators correct for barometric pressure, relative humidity and intake air temperatures?, might be worth asking the question at your next dyno shoot out day, anyway, enough waffling on, i believe a standard pinto made 102 bhp today which is good enough for me.

THE ONLY WAY to measure the true flywheel horsepower of your engines is to remove the engine from the car and run it on a corrected engine dynamometer.

loved the cars today, some were truly stunning, keep up the great work!

i'm off to look around this great forum now.

Hello chris, just a couple of things....

My engine was dyno'd on HT's machine when it was built (as you know cos steve told you before i arrived) and it made 189hp. Today, it made 175hp, so i do believe it does under read just a tad.

Also, my 3dr was dyno'd on a Dyno Dynamics system, EXACTLY the same as yours, owned by Motorworx in Marlow, about a month ago, and it made 350hp, and 398lbs, but today it made 343hp and 378lbs on yours.

Not a dig in any way at all mate, just some info for you to help ya compare.

In fact, today was the most professional rolling road day ive EVER been to. Loving the little "gift packs" we were given with our reults, and the shiny folder. Proper service.

Lovely workshop too

Thanks Mike, constructive critism mate, no worries, you really cant compare chassis dyno's with engine dyno's though, i have personally mapped an engine on HT racings superflow engine dyno, the trumpets on your carbs are very close to the innerwing on your escy and that would have not been the case when it was on HT's dyno, I truly belive your engine when it was on aarons engine dyno made what you quote, but it can vary when in the car with a hot rad in front of it.

as far as the cossy goes, different dyno cooling fan/fuel in the tank/and intake air temps can all have an effect on what a car makes, and also if the dyno was set up correctly before the run, can you post up the graph from today and the one from my home town of marlow?, be interesting to see the specs.

thank you for the kind comments about TOTD by the way, its how i wanted the place to be, clean and professional.

My Cappa has never been on another Dyno so nothing to compare to... will be sticking to the TOTD Dyno now though to see how its improved after some further mods, so theres no confusion with other dyno readings - very impressed with the place, the equipment and the service :wink:

well done chris for today  nice w/shop and service all the chaps were happy in there own way. welldone mate see you at the tree :lol:

Hello mate. Yeah i will scan them at work tomorrow, then you can compare. I remember what you were saying about the trumpets too. Might be worth me getting a cold air feed in there somehow.
