DoireMan Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 DO IT! It'll be unique and a hell of a lot of craic.
Toby Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 Looking at those videos I would say definately! Nice compact little motor, ideal for an anglia I would have thought. GWAN THE W4NKLES!! (sorry James may have pinched your catch phrase. (It's ok I modified it!)
razersedge Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 do it do it do it but i have to say why the 1.3 if you are going mad why not the 2.6 and go balls out or is it to big
Messenjah Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 why would you need the 2.6 the 1.3 is more thren enough i would have thought the rx8 with a 1.3 is still a quick car and sams anglebox would be a darn site lighter ...

Remeber the film "Wall Street" to quote Gordon Gecko - Greed is good!! Then he can run a 7!! Albeit on his roof!! Do they do one bigger!!
Wessie Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 do it sam not all angleboxes need to be zetecs !thank fooooook for that FINALLY SOMETHING WE AGREE ON !
Wessie Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 trust me whether this gets done or not i will NEVRE i repeat NEVER be putting a zetec in my anglia
hotrodholty Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 The washing machine lookalike rotary motors are mental . They drink petrol like a big V8 though and also drink oil also the older m,otors never came with carbon blade tips(if thats what theyre called) so wore rapidly, meaning a complete rebuild. however if its only goin to be a quick strip car and not used every day id go for it iv been told that in the states most people who drag race them rx8's and rx7s are taking the wankels out and putting in supra straight 6s and v8s as wankels have no low down talk and are very highly strung engines (10000rpm say it all really)
CapriBoy Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 the tips of the rotor wear away eventually and youll need to get new rotors
Rick Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 dare to be different! if you dont like it, rip it out and try somet else.
pelvins Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 i reckon do it ! we dont want all our fords to be the same
Mick The Mig Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 Oh yes, dare to be different. How about a gas turbine, revs to 20,000, runs on just about any fuel, bit of a problem with the 4 foot exhaust flame but stops people crowding you at the lights!!!
Mr Sam Posted December 3, 2007 Author Report Posted December 3, 2007 oh it would be getting a rebuild and 'racing' rotors put in anyway and no low down torque......why does the blue rx3 lift the wheels in second then
Admin Vista Posted December 3, 2007 Admin Report Posted December 3, 2007 Oh yes, dare to be different. How about a gas turbine, revs to 20,000, runs on just about any fuel, bit of a problem with the 4 foot exhaust flame but stops people crowding you at the lights!!! Only GT's with afterburners will give you a big exhaust flame..... Bit like this one really Oh and as someone who works with them on a daily basis, rotary engines = gas turbines in my book and whilst it's been done (Rover and BRM) they don't really suit cars. I'd also leave the carbon tipped thingamedoodaas to Mazda.

Mr Sam Posted December 3, 2007 Author Report Posted December 3, 2007 a complete engine seal kit for a 13b seems to be a good £500
lee_capri Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 a complete engine seal kit for a 13b seems to be a good £500 so you will be running a cross flow then sam it's a good idea rx7 turbo engine but it's the stuff you need to make these thing's work
hotrodholty Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 oh it would be getting a rebuild and 'racing' rotors put in anyway and no low down torque......why does the blue rx3 lift the wheels in second then because its revving its nuts off iv driven an rx8 and at low revs theyre shit, but wind it up and they shift
Mr Sam Posted December 3, 2007 Author Report Posted December 3, 2007 but still if i speant £500 on a x'flow its not going to bet me anywhere near what a mild rotor could nock out is it gonna keep a close eye on this one locally just throw it in as is and see how long it lasts
joker Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 no mate dont do it its a engine like a wax and cant beat fords with that
Mr Sam Posted December 3, 2007 Author Report Posted December 3, 2007 mate im ford through and trhough but they sound nice
joker Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 it a very expensive engine if something goes wrong mate you need to change it all its better.. we tryed in malta i know what im saying
oliwally Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 Just read through some old emails i recieved as i was looking at a blown up rx8,what you need is ceramic seal tips. Guy was going to build a reliable 500+bhp turbo motor, with 3 years warranty inc track days for £8000 pounds ish, might be more if i wanted extra power. Not a 13b or 20b but the new RENISIS engine. Sounds a lot but, ceramic seals are damned exspensive and last years. Think it was running a Garrett T4 with modified internals, custom manifolds and exhaust and a fully rebuilt motor and uprated oil and intercoolers along with a serporate ECU to control fueling and boost stuff. would have been running around 18psi and full on boost at around 2500 and topping out at 8700,the rotors disintegrate at 12000rpm due to harmonics. That sounds dead exspensive but not building a turbo motor from scratch with proper parts. To do the same with a supra and skylines would cost soo much more,a fully sorted steel crank fora skyline costs around 2700. That engine was using a 4 port 190bhp motor as these give much better torque when turbo'd,comparable to a fast road NA car, doesnt suffer from lag quite like a piston car would.
Mr Sam Posted December 3, 2007 Author Report Posted December 3, 2007 8 grand im looking to stay NA and not go silly really
oliwally Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 8 grand im looking to stay NA and not go silly really I'd look for a written off RX8 with a RENISIS. they come in 4 port 190bhp and 5 speed or 230bhp and 6 speed. 12a is the early rx7 motor and is not too bad, ported and a decent carb should see 170bhp. 13b is a turbo lump and not that reliable, certainly not in the turbo2 RX7. later versions were better. Seriously look into a cosmo 3 rotor and 4 rotor cars. some mental power from them. With any engine you need to rebuild them and as these are rare its not like a crossflow or pinto. and you cant turn them over backwards either
