To Purge or Not To Purge ... that is the question ....

When running NOS, do you purge or not and why?

And this is NOT a post about whether NOS is cheating or not so don't mention it gaz

i soppose if you dont purge and you shoot a big gulp of air instead then it could be all over with a lean bernt piston. also it tells you there enough in the bottle to do the do

If you run out of gas or it does or do not purge, you wont ruin the engine, it will just run super rich, no fuel + gas will kill it in nanoseconds,

Im not sure about the virtues of purge, unless you are running big hp Nos, People have run gas for years without purge, is it a fashion statement??

there nothing wrong with fashion statement - we do it all the time in OSF with detailed engine bays, interiors, etc...

I always thought purging was too clear old, stale, warm nos out of your lines? Surely there must be a real reason coz you do see it a lot at drag racing?

A purge kit's job is to get liquid nitrous oxide up to the front of the nitrous line in the engine bay and to rid (purge) the line of any gas or air.

Nitrous Purge kits use an additional solenoid up front and a 'purge' push button on the dashboard to energise it. When you push the button the purge solenoid opens allowing nitrous oxide to rush down the line and flush it out. This 'purge' then exits through a purge nozzle or two mounted outside the car. As it leaves the nozzle it creates a plume of nitrous oxide and makes a big whoosh!
