JAY PS Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 Would be happy to do a discount for forum members if you guys are in Surrey . We can fit trackstar and cobra trak Q products for you guys and give you guys peace of mind Check out our website for more details ! We also do security locks ,im in discussions with our van lock supplier to see if we can get a deal for you guys . These locks are stronger than yales and very tidy .
Savvi Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 I'd go for the Cobra system guys smaller unit easier to hide and works abroad !!! I'm willing to do a similar deal for anyone around my area to match Jays to give everyone a chance of keeping or recovering their cars. I can also get these fitted in most parts of the country via another forum from a group of small dedicated qualified independent engineers if anyone is interested ? I have been thinking of such a post as this with all the thefts recently hope Jay doesn't mind me posting this along with his ? We can also supply and fit paging systems which will text or phone you if the car is disturbed, along with other security systems and i'm willing to spend some time on developing something to suit old Fords.
meXEco Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 Does anyone know the cost involved with something like a tracker unit-are there monthly/yearly subscriptions for their services?
Guest MK1gaz Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 you can subscribe for life or yearly . I got quoted £350 to supply and fit the tracker , £130 a year to activate it (so £480 plus £130 every year ) or a one off payment to supply , fit and monitor of £730 for life which is better
meXEco Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 Not bad then really if you go for the life option-a decent alarm can cost that cant it? Also what is the recovery success rate-i'd imagine its pretty good right?
Nettles Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 These systems sound like the best idea to put a stop to all the OSF thefts. If someone could give a more accurate description of price and what the system includes then I’m sure that it would spark more interest. Offering a discount for OSF members will also persuade people. I’m definitely interested, keep us posted.
Savvi Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 There are various systems that can be used the Insurance approved are good and monitored by a control centre. Cobra recommended price is £399 fitted plus yearly or 3 yearly subs of £135 or £365.It is also possible to track the unit yourself the insurance catorgary is TQA I can certainly do a discount on the unit but the subs are fixed. Web price Subs needs updating as its recently been changed. http://www.savvi.co.uk/product_info.php ... ts_id/85ed. I can supply a unit that works on Gps and Gsm the can be set up by a "geo fence" which means if the car is moved out of a certain area it will phone or text you and send a email so you know it has moved this is not an Insurance system but runs from the web and can be accessed from any computer with your user name and password. The link below gives better details and the cost is £6.50 per week again i maybe able to do a discount for a "bulk" buy if theres enough interest, i will contact the supplier who i have a good working relationship with, again it can be fitted countrywide, including Ireland. http://www.savvi.co.uk/product_info.php ... ucts_id/96
FredTransit Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 i would be interested, would a further discount be possible for multiple vehicles?
Savvi Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 Depends on which system you go for ? My hands are tied to some degree on monthly charges etc. I spoke to the non insurance system owners and it is possible to purchase the unit outright then pay £12 per month for the online tracking and text alerts. If i got an idea of numbers i can go back to them to see what deal hey will do on the units price ?
shaun1.6ghia Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 so there is a possible 'one off' payment then?? that would be better £££ in the long run, an whats the lifs span like on these things 1-2 years then out of date or what?? im interested but want more details. thanks shaun
Tom Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 I need a thatcham cat.2 alarm for the Escort for my insurance. How much is one of these bud?
meXEco Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 Isnt a Tracker thatcham approved-gotta be better than any alarm surely??
Tom Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 Yeah but a tracker is only good as long as its connected - we can hide them really well and in various places on BMWs but there's not many places to hide one in an OSF. At the end of the day it seems that if someone wants your car they will take it, whatever we do will only slow them down a little - hence the triple locked garage with an alarm linked to the house
meXEco Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 Oh i dunno i dont know how big they are but theres gotta be a few places you could put one in an Escy etc...surely these thieves dont spend 10 minutes looking for Trackers etc. before nicking a car do they? Times against them so in & out not pulling panels and trim off looking for the Tracker?? But i'm not a theif and dont know how their minds work-but i'd guess speed is of the essence-and if these Trackers work as they should surely the car could be traced within minutes of it being moved-or at least be alerted to it being moved within minutes-do the Police get informed or is it the Tracker people.
meXEco Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 I'm thinking security light activated webcams recording to pc hard-drive, concreted security posts in front & behind, motion alarm with high dB siren for the garage and tracker. And if your still in there trying when i get alerted you better be able to run faster than my big dog-who's pretty fast and not too likeable of strangers...
negri Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 I'm thinking security light activated webcams recording to pc hard-drive, concreted security posts in front & behind, motion alarm with high dB siren for the garage and tracker. And if your still in there trying when i get alerted you better be able to run faster than my big dog-who's pretty fast and not too likeable of strangers... theres a guy on turbo sport with one of them http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthread. ... ght=camera seen window cleaners in his garden , so went to investigate .

The Cobra units are smaller than most which is why i recommended them they are also Insurance approved will alert when moved and have battery backup so even if the car battery is removed it will stiil work !!
Rick Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 TBH honest theyre great and all but FOOKIn expensive devices. why arent these fitted to cars as standard for free anyway to tackle viehicle crime... would make sense obviously an opt out option though cuz im sure some people just dont want to be tracked
meXEco Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 Not as expensive as losing a pretty expensive motor though.... I'm definately going for one when my cars on its wheels.
JAY PS Posted February 24, 2008 Author Report Posted February 24, 2008 Im calling our suppliers tommorow to see what a bulk order could cost ,if your interested then please phone me or pm me and will then get a idea of numbers 01276 24415 or 07711 008951 or email surreycarradio@hotmail.com
Rick Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 thing that puts me off is the way in which you have to phone about when it gets nicked, is there no way of linking a sat nav up to track it
Savvi Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 You dont have to ring them the control room ring you if and when its been moved you then have an option to track it yourself via the internet if you so wish and they call the Police once spoken to you confirming a password to make sure its not you moving it.
JAY PS Posted February 25, 2008 Author Report Posted February 25, 2008 We have three options Trackstar+ with pan europe cover ,uses gps and gsm to track vehicle if car is started with keys then ,it would be down to ower to report it but we could always fit a trackstar switch hidden so if someone got in car and hotwired it would still flag up the car being taken by trafficmaster hq These do have a backup if power is diconnected for up two weeks Another option is Neat track from which you can track your car yourself (say its not kept at home or having work done) you just log on and it will map your car and uou can also add an immobilser to it so you can remotely stop the car from being driven by computer (say ifs its being stored etc ) There is no subscription just a monthly charge of £12 once the unit is installed Also we do Cobra Track Q and adr systems more detail are available at www.cobravehiclesecurity.co.uk If there more than 5 of you booking these in then i can do reduced rates so please call me if you interested
