FredTransit Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 i agree with your mumbut as for the parents being at fualt for the way kids are these days i have to dis agree i have 6 kids ages range from 12 to 23 all the kids by 2 have got their heads on right the 2 that havent seem to be the sort that people refer to as chav`s or emo`s the problem with kids that you talk off is they no what they can do and get away with the parents, teachers and the police cant do a thing about it and the kids know this E.G they dont go to school parents get the blame and in trouble where`s the deterent rog that's exactly what I think is the problem, if the do gooders hadn't given children 'rights' and stopped parents and teachers disciplining children in a fail manner (eg slap on the legs fine, beating with a stick not fine) there would be less trouble all round.
sab6024 Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 You're mum has a valid point Scott. I think it's sad to see loads of young girls hanging around in town in groups wearing very little. All they're doing is advertising themselves to the perves around who see them as some sort of easy prey When I was younger I had to wear what my mum let me wear which usually consisted of some hand me down I remember I went out in a mini skirt when I was 13 and my neighbour told my mum I looked like a 'slut'....charming But I sort of see her point now
MK2Ed Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 what I should allow my kids to see, and what I should keep from them (which changes as they grow up). Spot on...

Toby Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 C'mon guys/girls it ain't a discussion without both points of view Well it may be politically incorrect, but Vista, I love the look of a six year old in french Knickers - boy or girl!! I went to a wedding last year and there was a 9?? year old girl in heels?? WTF. What parent in their right mind buys these for their daughter? - and as stated earlier - that girl will have her own kids (soon no doubt ) and where will the boundries for them be?? Sorry Vista have to agree with your mum.
BIGKEV Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Right then - what I am trying to say ( what am I trying to say?) Am I right in saying that for an example that an 18 certificate on a film is watched by only over 18's? No its not - prime example jamie bulger. could it be possible that the drinking age of alcohol is adhered to ? No because there would be no drunk teenagers would there. What I am trying to say is that - who along the line decided to let their children who are 13 watch 18 cert videos? Answer - Irresponsible parents. Parents who at some point thought fook it I'll just give in and let them do what ever they want just to keep the peace. and where did they get their behaviour from ? surely their parents is the answer Surely this has happened all across the land in one way or another relating to allsorts of things. but then are we talking about behavoiurial problems from their parents and so on and so on - this culture has taken a turn and will self destruct sooner rather than later - look at america- they are fooked - the kids are fooked and why is that ? I know what I am thinking but when I try to type it I think that anyone who is reading this wont understand. christ does anyone get my drift? How about you Scott? do I make any sense?
caprinerd Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 i have 6 kids and 2 out of the 6 are trouble does that im a bad father to the 2 that have gone bad or a good parent to the 4 that have their heads on right it dont matter how a kid is treated if the kid wants to do wrong he/she will i had a violent up bringing and ended in hospital many a time does that mean that i would bring my kids up the same way.....no and there are members that know me well and know how i treat my kids and thats not to knock ten barrels out of them but if i did would that have stopped the 2 from going bad ? kids do what they want because they know they can get away with it. the issue is with the people that have taken away every power that parents teachers and the police had to start with,if the laws were changed to the old skool way that i was brought up with then you`d see a change with out this power of inforcement kids will do as they please and the public such as everyone else will have to like it I remember when i was a kid a parky caught me messing about near a bowls green caught hold of me give me a belt round the head drag me to my house told my old man who then belted me again what would happen if that was done now
Admin Vista Posted February 26, 2008 Author Admin Report Posted February 26, 2008 Sounds to me like you're saying blame the parents and in some ways I guess you're right. However as society has changed as a whole it must become harder and harder to refuse the demands of children who are seeing all their contemparies wearing/watching/drinking things that they want. It's generally not the parents who allow their children into 18 films or serve them alcohol across the counter at off licences. Much as you try and educate them you can't watch them all the time and should be able to depend on people in positions of responsibility acting with a degree of common sense. Capri Rog has perhaps the best point made so far, discipline has been entirely stripped from schools and largely stripped from the family unit. Kids do go bad and if you've no way of showing them the error of their ways then how are you going to turn them round? The treehuggers would have us all believe that smacking is not the answer and love will show them all the way. Well guess what, showing my dog love never stopped him peeing on the carpet, but a few smacks and he's never done it again since!!
caprinerd Posted March 1, 2008 Report Posted March 1, 2008 my srever went down and just got it back on line i agree with what you say about tree huggers the power of adults over kids has been taken and needs to be restored back to the way it was
deltamal Posted March 2, 2008 Report Posted March 2, 2008 I think there is too much media information that kid's are allowed to see, tv, magazine's , papers etc, American kid's programs on the tv, the young actors are very loud and opinionated and it's always "cool" to get one over the adults, also too much advertising for the next "must have" gizmo, lack of discipline in the home, and kids not allowed to be disciplined in School, i'm not being Dickensian, but I always found the threat of the cane to be a deterent! I think that a combination of these things leads to a lack of respect in society today.
