what about the balance bar screws in the middle of the 2 carbs then , can i adjust them for you as well then ?

You supply the carbs and you can "adjust" away till your hearts content

Till then ill have to stick with a single carb that does the job just fine :)

why come on here and whine about people on TS? why not grow some balls and have it out with the people on there that you've got your various problems with?

T&R do a good job, they told me my set up was pants and what to do to make it better. i did it and it was sweet. i dont give a shit what the numbers say as long as it runs well.

if your so pissed off get your timing gun out and re set it

i've had it out with them on numerous occasions mate . I only asked for a 150 bhp pinto powered escorts time up the quarter mile not a debate . I also didn't mention the track n road dyno day on here THEY DID  I did get my car sorted when i got back home the following day , move the dizzy , reset the carbs , tighten throttle cable grub screw and job done back to full power . :D

Read this thread and piss yourself laughing , i have many times . They get so upset at times that the censors moved in and deleted some of it ! There's plenty of the anti - pinto brigade on there as well , i normally mention how fast the pinto's can move and that really winds em up

yes , there's some crackers on there , even the top design bod from cosworth comes in at one stage  . It just goes to show who reads these things really , you may have colin McCrae on here some nights and not know about it :worship:

Good chat gang, particularly enjoyed the plot twist that was the three way romance between Col, Lee and Baz... You sluts.

So what is the moral to the story? Personally i've used several rolling road tuners and whilst figures may vary, its all about how the car goes afterwards. All i know for sure is that T&R did a superb job of mapping the Van and i'd certainly go back.

gaz is upset because his pinto never made the figures he would have liked,so he rolls the exuses out,and still wont have it if that sanspeeds rollers read high

try norwich union they will quote you happy

Do figures matter? If it goes well enough and produces the times, surely the power it's putting out is irrelavent?

Anyways, id rather have a 150bhp Escort that does 0-60 in 6 seconds than a 180bhp one... Sounds like more of an achievement

Nope figures dont matter, the RS recorded 127 bhp and 130 lb torque at track and road, which is nt that high but has run a best time of 15.3 at santa pod.

Gaz you know me well mate,i have used Steve Pitcher for a least 15 years,And i have had numorus cars set up by him mini stock race cars lightning rods bangers loads of road cars,And i must say i have never had a bad experiance with him,My mate worked for him(untill he was killed on his bike.)And if ever i thought somethink was wrong or thought he could get more from it i would ask and he would and will always sort it out and explain the if s,Buts,And maybe`s!!I have even had the arguements about my old cars having more BHP in others Rolling roads. . which is another story...But i think its been covered. All i will say is i will be using Track and Road in the future. And Gaz if you get your car set up by Ford motorsports or any other Pinto genius who you belive is the man for job drive it down and have a power run 2 people have offered to pay for it...Me included...cant be any easier...And the Arguments ended,Saying that if you belive there is an Argument about there attitude and it stinks .Well thats down to personality as i give back as much as they give it to me!!But most of there views are contructive if just a little blunt @ times! but get over it!!Just have a bit of banter and smile all the way home!!

no romance m8, it,s just they agreed it,s not the done thing to tell someone who has just had an engine built that it is shit,

I've never disputed the power it made at track n road on the day , as 156 bhp out of tune on 80% throttle is very good  . What i didn't like was the sarky comments and fact that all the settings where fooooked up  . If people don't believe the power of a stroked cranked Harris pinto that's been on 3 other dynos and rips a heavy unlightened escort mk1 on street rubber up the pod in 13.8 secs then so be it . I Know Ron Harris can build pucker fast engines so i don't need a couple of prima donna's with a new dyno to tell me !!!!!!! :wiggle:

I dont log on for a few days, and another lively topic is posted

I like out put figures as much as the next person, but its not everything, as long as it goes well and your happy with it does it really matter what its punting out :?: If you want a TRUE power figure go to a neutral dyno someone who isnt going to give you a "low power figure" so you will go to them to "fix" the problem. A few years back a well known bike tuner was in the poo for giving untrue read outs so he could fix the problem thus creating work for himself and making dosh out of it.

Iam by no means saying this is what happened here but simpley bringing it to peoples attentions that it does happen.

Anyways 156 bhp is more than enough to get sideways :D

arse dyno always works bets fr me! ;) RR is great for setting a car up with carbs etc, but if you run management and can live map, then its better to map on the fly IMO. its more representative of the actual use the car gets.

anyway - the old pinto is a great torquey lump, ideal for pottering around with or for doing historic rallying on a budget.

BHP figures are for journeymen who cant prove themselves on the tracks or stages - oh and for those with small genitalia... 8)

I think that sums up this thread

glad you agree Gareth!

i know too many people who fret about the power their car is or is not producing. they never use the thing as it should be used.

classic example is a nipper ona local forum i mod on. he is a cracking lad, dont get me wrong, but he owns two cars. a fantastic little crx and a rare as rocking horse shit older shape type r civic. now IGNORE the marques and think of this:

he has two quick cars, that handle great, and have been modified sensibly, but he is hell bent on "mintifying" the crx and cosseting the civic. i ask why? he refuse to come on trackdays - including Bedford, which lets face it, has fuckall that you can hit if you spin and wont even indulge in autotests organised by the local club - which are brilliant fun.. he raves about this car and that car, that he has "wasted" up the duel carrigeway. he spends £700 quid (yes 700) on an exhaust manifold for his crx, which is on the garage in bits. he lives at home with his parents, hence he can afford all of this shit. i just don't see the point, this manifold will net him 5 bhp on a good day, oh but apparently "its lightweight" - so what!? it makes no diference in the stark reality which is the non-competitive public roads. he could be enjoying his car at about 3 trackdays for that money. make no mistake, he likes to drive fast.

in a mintue the government will stop us enjoying motoring altogether, so get out there and have it to the max whilst you still can!

the point i am making, is that to much is made of bhp figures and all that old swank, and not enough time is spent using the friggin cars that are at the disposal of so-called enthusiasts.

some people need to get a King life!
