72mk1escort Posted March 14, 2008 Author Report Posted March 14, 2008 I think i will have to get my next valuation done else where once my engine bay is done
over_head_cam Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Would I be right in saying that an 'agreed' value is satisfactory to BOTH parties in the the insurance contract, and it is supposed to be the amount of money you would expect to pay to have another version of you pride and joy with similar spec plonked on your drive?

I think its if anything happens its meant to get you the same or as close as replacement to what you have now.
Guest MK1gaz Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Why not apoint an OSF valuer and not some stick in the mud "standard is best" bufty boy to value the cars for insurance companys then . An OSF valuer would have a better idea of a modded cars value compared to the other clubs etc .
MEXY867M Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 that sounds a good idea gaz,how about it lads, what you reckon "posse"

Burns Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 wouldn't osf have to be a registered club for that?

I no that peter nofookall priced your mates car gaz the green one at £2500-£3000 at classic ford last year So it goes to show he know jack and if its modded and not a show piece its not worth anything. So i think it would prob be a great idea
Guest MK1gaz Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 Most insurance companys just send out a form for agreed valve classic cars . You have to take photos and then get the form filled out by an independent vehicle examiner (can be a bodywork resto place , specialist car dealer , owners club etc) and that's about it really . The person that signs it then leaves their details on the form so they can check up . I think an OSF appointed valuer would be fine to do this

Sounds like a good idea, you should really have one preson running it and a rep in each area to visually inspect the cars, they can then agree on a value and produce a valuation certificate. I'm sure anyone wanting a valuation would be willing to pay for it so this could help pay for the running of the site. Win,win situation.
Admin Vista Posted March 15, 2008 Admin Report Posted March 15, 2008 It does sound a good idea but is quite a lot to ask of the individuals in each area. It also sounds like a perk that would be made available to contributors only

Rick Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 i dont think its too bad a valuation mate. like said with engine bay done you will push it up another 300 quid or so (not sure about a thousand) 2000 ish for a standard 4 door is pretty good i reckon and i can guarantee that value could increase by at least 50% again in the next few years/ i had the same problem with selling a 1303 beetle which is the lesser of the beetle family. VW valued it at 2.5K but nobody wanted to pay half that because of what it was. you will never make profit or get more than your money back when doing a project. you also have to bear in mind that the current mindset of the hardcore fanatics that anything lesser than an RS is not worth a second glance. as said, its what its worth to you. although i can understand that youd want a good sum if it were stolen or written off, but compare it to any car that is stolen/destroyed, you still lose either way

72mk1escort Posted March 15, 2008 Author Report Posted March 15, 2008 peter nofookall I think that sounds about right
