v8cortina Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 More fantastic workmanship I am interested in the fittings you are using to hold your brake lines on. Can you buy these and how have you fitted them onto the axle?
Guest Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 Absolutely Gobsmacked!, I dread to think how long that's taken to get it in that condition.

Can you buy these and how have you fitted them onto the axle? LOL cheers mate! I made those little clamps. They are attached by bolts which have been drilled and taped into the axle tubes Its amazing the questions and praise i have had on that idea. At the time i just wanted something that was out of the ordinary to attach my lines and came up with those. I never realised it would turn out to be such a talking point.

30psi MK2 CORTINA Posted October 18, 2009 Author Report Posted October 18, 2009 Well...... with my shed up (but not concreted yet) and house well and truely under construction now, i have had some spare time to get back into my car. So here is a couple of pics of the progress. Still a fair way off of having her running but still....... its a start!
30psi MK2 CORTINA Posted October 26, 2009 Author Report Posted October 26, 2009 More pics Rear brakes... billet wilwoods Handbrake setup. Notice my little alloy clip that holds the cable to the chassis but still allows it to slide during suspension travel. I wanted something out of the ordinary here rather than just a bracket or clip to hold it. I also wanted to keep it as neat as i could and didn't want to use bolts (jeeze i can be a fussy unpleasant individual) so i came up with this idea that slides into place via a machined channel. [8D]

30psi MK2 CORTINA Posted November 29, 2009 Author Report Posted November 29, 2009 pushed her out of the carport for the first time in years! so we could get my bro's mk2 GT out for some work. Had to take some snaps while she was out. Its the first time its touched tarmac with the 5 stud conversion and 8 inch rims. Now just gotta find the time for the few remaining things.
Guest Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Hi Mate, absolutely love the car, I have a 1970 Mk2 440 which is standard at the moment. I have a few questions if you can help me out. How do you find the standard steering set up with that much power? And where and how much were your coilovers? How big is the front swaybar? How did it handle before all the rear end mods? What is the offset for the 16x7's you had? It seem to fill the guards nicely (not as well as the 8"s but i'd be happy with 7"s). I'd like to have mine set up to do the odd track day. Mine has 13000 original miles on the clock, original owners manual with sales details in it. Nice country car with just the rust in the RH lower 1/4. few dents here and there but pretty straight all over. Cheers, and again great car, love your work.
30psi MK2 CORTINA Posted January 4, 2010 Author Report Posted January 4, 2010 Hey mate. The std steering box isnt too bad. I have had it rebuilt so its pretty good + all my steering joints are new ......so its half decent i guess. Still not as good as a steering rack. My 2 door will have a rack conversion. The front coilovers ended up costing about 2k complete. I ended up making them my self so they were abit cheaper that way. That gets you the leg with thread on it, Biltein shock, and adjustable strut tops and king springs pro sport springs. When it comes time to getting some ....... if you go down this path send me a pm as i have another set that im about to make up. I can supply the strut complete or just the threaded leg if thats what you want to do. Font sway bar is a kmac 27mm with my own anti dive kit. My 16x7 were a 125mm backspacing...... not sure what that is.
