hotrodholty Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 ...having taken note of your various post's, my pursuit of having a quick "proper" car withouts nitrous, slicks and without any trim missing has lead me to this, i just want to know would this still be considered cheating or inovitive:mrgreen: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GAS-TURBINE-Solen ... dZViewItem 70bhp more and just bolt it straight on the roof, jobs a good'n.

What the foook is that... I've never seen such a thing in my life... Might work though...
Guest MK1gaz Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 That's the same as nitrous is (extra "go" that's nothing to do with the engine) therefore cheating . P.S. sorry if this remark upsets a certain few but he did ask
mk1super Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Well its adding weight too so is it cheating?

Might work though... it looks like one of those things that is used for starting jet engines (they need air going through them to start i believe)

P.S. sorry if this remark upsets a certain few but he did ask doesnt upset me or my big tank of Nos but surely nitrouse has something to do with the engine... as mine goes through it
FlashCadillac Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 mines bigger than yours and that beetle is cheating gaz... theres no back seats
razersedge Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 yea but the kids will never be late on his shift
Admin Vista Posted April 14, 2008 Admin Report Posted April 14, 2008 An engine is an engine is an engine, if someone has a different idea for going fast that happens to be better than yours and beats you then tough tittie, go back to the drawing board and beat him at his own game. However the term jet engine or gas turbine often misleads people into thinking big power. I've worked with turbines most of my working life and that thing's about the smallest tiddler you can imagine. 70bhp at 60'000rpm? Not likely to be setting any records then
Guest MK1gaz Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 No thanks , you can poke your nitrous + jet engines where the sun don't shine cos proper mechanical engine tuning rules P.S. no offence intended
Admin Vista Posted April 15, 2008 Admin Report Posted April 15, 2008 So now a jet engine isn't mechanical?
Retromotorsport Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 Ok its probably going to go down the same way as all the other Gas threads .. As gaz says .. "nos is cheating as once it runs outs you have lost the power " nos is a fuel* .. same as petrol is a fuel, once the fuel has run out you have no power .. so there for petrol is cheating .. Ahhhh see theres the crux of the matter, Gaz is from Gazicstan .. and over there they have no petrol, so the push their cars down the 1/4 The rules of dragracing ... On a RWYB day .. there is no rules ..its a run what you've brung .. If you dont want to use gas .. then dont if you want to use gas ... then do at the end of the day after you have spent £25 doing a straight mile ... its still your car, your choice .. If your going to start placing rules on RWYB days then the cars running in the comfy road class should only have original engines with no aftermarket heads or exhaust.. go on the concourse boys !!!! *definition of fuel ... a mixture of chemicals to form combustion

Mind u a turbine/jet engine isn't your traditional combustion unit ... Doesn't have quite the same appeal to a petrolhead like me... Similarly neither would an electric unit which we'll all be driving around in 20 years time
Guest MK1gaz Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 NITROUS OR JET ENGINES AREN'T PART OF YOUR ENGINE OR MECHANICALLY JOINED TO YOUR ENGINE , THEY ARE A FOOOOOOOOKING BOLT ON POWER ADDER . So if you had an 1100cc mk1 escort with a 50 bhp nos kit and a jet engine from concord on the roof and then run a 7 sec 1/4 mile at 300 mph have you then got the worlds fastest 1100 then ? The answer is "yes" but you foooooking cheated !!!!!!!!
FlashCadillac Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 NITROUS OR JET ENGINES AREN'T PART OF YOUR ENGINE OR MECHANICALLY JOINED TO YOUR ENGINE neither is shell optimax... but i bet you put that through your engine surely its just like running your car on a higher octain... or putting an octain booster in you car
Burns Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 gaz, twin 48's are a bolt on way to get more power, are they cheating?
Guest MK1gaz Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 Carbs are a mechanical part of your engine aren't they ? A jet engine or nitrous system is not . The engine works without them doesn't it , it won't work without carbs though . I'm right and your all wrong . Next
Guest MK1gaz Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 NITROUS OR JET ENGINES AREN'T PART OF YOUR ENGINE OR MECHANICALLY JOINED TO YOUR ENGINE neither is shell optimax... but i bet you put that through your engine surely its just like running your car on a higher octain... or putting an octain booster in you car No it's not , octane booster or super unleaded doesn't give you 50+ bhp extra when you flick a switch or give enough thrust to make a jumbo jet take off does it ?
Guest MK1gaz Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 Well don't ask then . We all know the answer anyway = cheating , end of story
Retromotorsport Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 Gaz you need to be Prime Minister .. your priceless .. Nos is a fuel that is added to engine via mechanical means Petrol is a fuel that is added to an engine via mechanical means the only difference between the the 2 is you dont have Nos If you carry on down that route of bolt on power then get rid of your TB's and Head ..
Guest MK1gaz Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 No your wrong mr retro . My engine won't work without a cylinder head or throttle bodies will it ? Nitrous is a power adder which is sprayed in ON TOP of your normal Fuel . It's un-mechanical ADDITIONAL POWER and therefore not classed as a proper engine tuning modification. Hence using it it puts you into a different class in all forms of motorsport
