Radical new tire design by Michelin. The next generation of tires.

They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show.

These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon.

The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these tires.

This is what great R&D will do, and just think of the impact on existing technology:

A. no more air valves...

B. no more air compressors at gas stations...

C. no more repair kits...

D. no more flats...

SCAN DOWN &SEE.

These are actual pictures taken in the South Carolina plant of Michelin.

i think the real ones do have sidewalls, these were just to show what they could do.

aren't these just run-flat tyres?

nah, run flats have a really thick sidewall not the spokes in the middle

There have been a Few "SuperTires" before, and all failed, I seem to remember Avon Safety tires, Dunlop Denovos, and some BFG? things that had BRIGHT Blue treads and Black sidewalls, a strange looking tire,

They have all bitten the dust, I wonder how long it will be before these go the same route, especially as I beleive you have to upgrade the suspension to make them work,

well im all for progress

I agree, if they work and can stop you from having a blow out and save lifes then it's got to be a good idea. :D:thumbsup:

bmw's run flat tyres have a similar design with a heavy duty plastic ring inside the tyre about an inch thick, the walls are just the same as a normal tyre
