X-pack-Glyn Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 lately ive been to see a few 2.8i specials, i must say these were all good cars with not a lot wrong yet three of em had missing diffs and a 2 of em front legs/brakes.... now then, i quized the owners on what the crack is with this and on one occasion ive had back "well, this guy offered me 200 quid for those parts" escort owners are pinching our parts chaps and its just starting to tick me off somewhat... please, there isnt enough specials left as it is and you escort owners have plentifull parts supply, so please leave our diffs and legs alone! Rant over.
antz Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 buy a special and buy some legs and diff and fit them then i use escort bits on my escort
X-pack-Glyn Posted May 4, 2008 Author Report Posted May 4, 2008 buy a special and buy some legs and diff and fit them then i use escort bits on my escort buy the special, buy an escort, and pinch the diff and legs back off it
Airbag Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Its sad but 2.8i are worth more in bits then complete. It does show how under appreciated they are tho. There wasn't a MK1 or 2 escort with a v6, 5 speed, slip diff and awsome suspention. If it looked like an escort they would be worth thousands I don't blame the escort guys and girls tho, id rip any car apart if I wanted the bits for my capri
Admin Mk2Jo Posted May 4, 2008 Admin Report Posted May 4, 2008 Stop moaning and buy an Escort then * runs away very fast *
tim Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 ive got nice pair of 2.8 legs in my shed, savin them for a rainy day to stick them on my escort
bigglesmk2 Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 I broke a 2.8i last year, wasnt a special but it was hanging. It had been sitting with a bush growing around it with both windows down for 10 years. In that cond i think its ok strip 'em so other cars can live on but if the car is saveable i think its a shame to break 'em.
PIG Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 its ok to strip any thing if thats what the owner wants to do m8

X-pack-Glyn Posted May 4, 2008 Author Report Posted May 4, 2008 ....bit rich mate.......how many 2.8's have you sold on with laser diff and legs mate in your time ????? Shhhhhh
X FLOW EDDY Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Now is maybe not the time to mention i robed the front struts and back axle out of a 280 Brooklands in our local scrap yard a bit back Darn't let you know how much i payed for them £100 the lot Starts to run off in the outher direction very quickley !!!!!!!!!!!
jamesg Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 dont worry my friend, my 2.8 special is still intact..... apart from the 2.8..... call it a 24v special
Nettles Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 I've got a lovely rear axle on my ’53 Anglia taken from a 3.0L Cappa
4parajon Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 Ive got 2.8 billies on the front of mine......is that ok with you as its still a capri
Toby Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 What about the poor Leyland Princess - everyone's got their brakes, although to be fair they were the only bit that was any good. "You don't see many of those around these days do you?" (punch line from the wide mouthed frog joke )
Supercharged Nat Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 i dont get why everyone wants the billies- there old and wanked out. 2.0L struts and aftermarket inserts with a coil over kit is the way forward! and why pay 400 for a wanked out slipper when for 550 you can buy a spanking new'un?
