Guest MK1gaz Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 So, where's all these YB bargains mate???!! They all seem to go for quite big money when i look around!! Got any pointers? Ebay , car shows , auto jumbles , magazine for sale sections or just buy a rusty but running s.ierra cossie for £1500
Guest MK1gaz Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 Got to be cossie turbo'd mate, then you will feel the power mmmmmmmm been thinking of leaving the hairdrier on the side but then i'll need at least 350 bhp too keep up with a 230ish bhp Atmo cossie in a race . Plus i'll need an atlas axle that weighs a ton , shell fabrication to stop the car breaking in half , 15 inch wheels () for the brakes and then they blow up every 5 mins unless running 20 psi . How much power can i get without running stupid boost levels then ? Could i get 350 bhp with a small turbo and about 20 psi then ?

Standard engine stage 3 tune greens 3 bar -31 and standard t3 330 bhp And if the engine is fresh, You should not have many if not no problems as long as its mapped right and you use good oil and change it regular
ASBO CAPRI Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 How about this rail dragster gaz pinto powered and runs low 11s . could always fit a low boost cossie turbo say 300-350bhp 15psi boost and then give it a 100hp shot of nitrous. Think thats what mick rogers cortina is set up like and thats run in the 10s with 1.5 sec 60fts. Also think u should tub cortina out and fit a narrowed atlas with a spool
PIG Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 toby that turbo just aint big enough fella, and please sir where is the external waste gate buddy
Guest MK1gaz Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 mmmm low boost reliable 300 bhp cossie with a 100bhp sniff of gas sounds like a plan .
PIG Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 do it you tart ,then you can see what all the fuss is about, put some proper puff daddy rims on it as well and not those comon bloody superlites
Guest MK1gaz Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 put some proper puff daddy rims on it as well and not those comon bloody superlites Going fast is ok but looking like i've had my ride pimped by Westwood is not an option !!!!!!!
russ105e Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 put some proper puff daddy rims on it as well and not those comon bloody superlites Going fast is ok but looking like i've had my ring pumped by Westwood is not an option !!!!!!!

Guest MK1gaz Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 lol Toby . Not sure about the shite noise that turbos make though . All that whoooooooooooosh psssssssssst cack puts me right off the idea to be honest . If it's fast then i suppose it's alright though
Toby Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 What about a small turbo like a T25 or a hybrid thingbobbywhatnot. I had a mate with a T25 off an escort cossy in a saph and it pulled from nothing, don't know what else he had done but it certainly felt fast. Mind you that was probably not long after we had thought that MK1 golf GTI's were the fastest thing on the planet
kevmk2 Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 mmmm low boost reliable 300 bhp cossie with a 100bhp sniff of gas sounds like a plan . Thats what Puddy is intending on doing with his car now
MK2Ed Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 I'm still gonna drive it though , fooook all the trailer queen antics That is until your left knee dislocates because of the hardcore clutch and traffic on the way back from Podington... I'm cahnging mine back so I can still drive it - football and 39yrs has taken its toll...
Guest MK1gaz Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 What about a small turbo like a T25 or a hybrid thingbobbywhatnot. mmmm a GT28 on a cossie would be responsive and would make 300 bhp i reckon , i also have an Eaton M90 supercharger under my bed ready for something . I could do a supercharged + turbo charged one using the charger to run 1 bar of boost just after idle and this could blow into a masoooooive turbo to spool it up instantly . I would get an easy 300 bhp on low boost with no lag

I'm cahnging mine back so I can still drive it - football and 39yrs has taken its toll... Fit a hydraulic clutch then mate , much easier to use in traffic . I've got a paddle clutch in my Escort on the street and it's ok
ASBO CAPRI Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 A fella at my work had a cossie saff with a eaton blown cossie lump. No woooshh pissst bang just cool blower wine . I think he said it was making about 250-260bhp. he said it would make more power with a smaller pulley on the blower but he took it off and changed it back to turbo . He may well have the blower and gubbins still. I'll have to ask him.

I've got a paddle clutch in my Escort on the street and it's ok Yep, fair point . i don't think the ergonomic positioning of the pedal is great either (too high up) but either way I'll (have to) sort it
4parajon Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 If it's fast then i suppose it's alright though That my friend has got to be the most sensible thing you have ever typed
