Does anyone actualy make single leafs specifically for Mk1 escorts? I've tried capri ones but they are too wide. I understand mk2 escort ones are too wide also. I need a pucker set with correct hangers and poly bushes.

I've got mk1 capri one's going on mine - 50mm wide - seems to do the job!

If all comes to all people just grind down the ends to male them fit!

If i remember you just fit mk2 escort leafs and mk2 escort rear hanging bits and they then fit :? . Phone Escort -tec as those boys know everything and stock all the bits no doubt

whats the advantages of single leaf springs?

When I took the multis off my Cortina and fitted singles there was a weight difference of 33lbs, dont know whet you would classify it as, sprung or unsprung weight, but still 33lbs is worth losing,

I think you will need to get them de cambered, the springs normally are made fo the rally boys an are very often set higher and have a stiffer rating, so your car will sit in the air, de cambered and blocks would probably work,

They're a lot lighter, therefore it takes weight off the car, I think the spring itself is classed as unsprung weight too, so I guess the theory would be that it improves the handling too.

Possibly cheaper for Ford to manufacture too.

Cheers, so even with 2" blocks they will sit high? De cambering is expensive isnt it? Anyone got any leads to manufacturers? Anyone actually got single leafs on an escort?

just use mk2 escort ones mate with mk2 hangers and spring saddles, the front hanger just needs the bush shaving down abit with a sharp blade. call graham at gs escorts, thats who i got all of my bits of for the conversion (apart from the leaf springs themselves, 99p off ebay last year due to being collection only ), really helpfull and knows exactly what you need and he's listed on here
