petrolhead Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 I took my Mk2 drag racing at North Weald on Sunday and I had the best day ever! Met Mk2Jo and Steve (white mint Mk2 RS2) and loads of other really nice people. Trouble is after going once I just could stop and just kept on queueing then racing, queueing then racing. My little Vulcan Xflow really impressed me and a lot of people were asking if it was a 2.1 Pinto. Grip on the concrete surface was a problem for everyone. Gave a £60k TVR, small block AC cobra and turbo V8 hilman hunter a run for their money over the first 100m (then lost) but that still felt good. Closest race was against Steve with his amazingly mint RS2000 with stage 2 2.1 Pinto and LSD (see vid) Best win was against a Toyota Corolla VVTi XYZ type thing with 190bhp. I wiped the floor with him I think (difficult to tell when they are behind you). Here are some vids: vs V8 turbo Hillman vs AC cobra vs RS2000 With an LSD and Tarmac under my tyres I should be able to knock off half a second. If you haven't tried it, Do It. It is bloody brilliant [/url]

Toby Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Was a great day for sure! Like your sig mate, but you forgot two wheels missing, uncomfortable, get wet if it rains, factory tuned, light weight, death trap (fooking fast though) And yes mate - all too easy to get the bug!
DEP Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Nice one mate, As Sam said, get yourself along to Shakey this w/end
petrolhead Posted May 13, 2008 Author Report Posted May 13, 2008 I would do but I now need a gearbox rebuild before I do any more damage to it. Once that is done I'll be back to tearing up tarmac (or concrete)
Admin Mk2Jo Posted May 13, 2008 Admin Report Posted May 13, 2008 You were doing very well Nice to meet you too
Tom Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 mate that accelerates really well!! what times were you doing? I forgot all about sunday you should've reminded me
Guest MK1gaz Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Like your sig mate, but you forgot two wheels missing, uncomfortable, get wet if it rains, factory tuned, light weight, death trap (fooking fast though) FPMSL
petrolhead Posted May 13, 2008 Author Report Posted May 13, 2008 I got bang on 16 sec 1/4 mile times. Not a patch on the cossie's or big power pinto lads on here but to put that in perspective I was getting virtually identical times to a 210bhp RS Turbo (Danny69's mate?) and some of the muscle cars were also running 16's. So not too bad for a 4 door Comfy.

To give you a target at the Pod my mates "comfy" pushrod oldskoolfords with decent engines all run around the 15.6 secs at 88mph on street rubber

danny69 Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 That`s right, my mates RS turbo managed a best of 15.88 with 200bhp. We had hoped for a little better.
fezza Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Bhp is a bad way to judge quarter mile times, theres so much more involved,my personal best in my old mk1 fiesta was 15.3 and that only had 141 bhp full trim and street rubber (although they were 15'' wheels )
