NHR115 Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 Just got our new copy delivered today and there is a small feature on the Sierra Cosworth in it. Do you think these should be classed as classic Fords? Discuss.
johnny_h Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 Yes, they are fords and reaching classic status.
spitbarnatt Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 Classic or not I love them. Don't anyone tell me you don't look twice when you see one on the road.
kevmk2 Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 I dont mind a 3 door, look nice with the right bits on them
Airbag Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 I like them but they are well catered for in Fast Ford, dont think classic ford needs to start feturing them.
4parajon Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 IMO they are a classic ford and I dont mind CF featuring them, whether they should be on here is a different matter though
escortmad79 Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 I like them but they are well catered for in Fast Ford, dont think classic ford needs to start feturing them. What he said

brettp Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 they should stay in fast ford can you imagine bodie and doyl in one they chase after a bad guys and cant catch them cos they keep blowing head gaskets
davreeve Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 IMO they have reached classic status, especially the early ones. Most had pinto power, type 9 boxes +independant rear suspension and are RWD.Not forgeting to mention some had v6,s and a certain YB lump As mentioned the later ones (late 80,s early 90,s)are best left out for now
caprinerd Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 love them or hate them the cossy engines end up in so many oldskool fords you have to love them just for that
morcheen Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 they should stay in fast ford can you imagine bodie and doyl in one they chase after a bad guys and cant catch them cos they keep blowing head gaskets since when did they keep blowing head gaskets??
brettp Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 go to ford fair watch the track time turbo cossie lumps are not reliable when running a lot of boost they are great for cheap power but they do not last long under stress this is a fact and not a piss take
DarrenM Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 I've got a 3 door XR4i coming in a couple of weeks with the rear end from a 4x4 so LSD and rear discs, should be some cheap RWD fun for a bit! I don't want them in Classic or Retro mags yet though as they are catered for in Fast Ford etc. In another few years though
Slik 50 Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 Cambridge dictionary: "classic car noun [C] a car which is still popular although it is no longer produced " They are deffo a "classic" ford
escortmad79 Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 Cambridge dictionary: "classic car noun [C] a car which is still popular although it is no longer produced " They are deffo a "classic" ford Does that make first generation Kas, Mk3/4 Fiestas, Mk6/7 Escorts, Mk1 Mondeos etc classics then?
MightySprocket Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 Cambridge dictionary: "classic car noun [C] a car which is still popular although it is no longer produced " They are deffo a "classic" ford Does that make first generation Kas, Mk3/4 Fiestas, Mk6/7 Escorts, Mk1 Mondeos etc classics then? not yet but like it or not one day they will adorn the pages of classic ford. Cars that have been featured heavily in the other ford mags will probably come over to CF, the mk3 Escort, Sierra, Mk2 Fez... they are now classic fords and the clues in the title
over_head_cam Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 I reckon the 'classic' status applies to things like cossies and 4i's. Just being old doesn't mean classic to me, but having a bit that certain something does. But are they oldsk.......... Don't even go there
sab6024 Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 I do like a 3 door, but I'm quite partial to jelly moulds anyway
