mk2_escort_chick Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 ...just declared Sorn on my 100e, as I'd only just received the v5 through y'day. I had to send off for a new one, as I didnt get one with the car I did it online and it came up with a thing saying that there is a gap since it was last sorn'd -a 2 year gap to be precise! It says that it is an offence to be the registered keeper of the vehicle and not declare it sorn. I wasnt the registered keeper at that point, so will I get fined or anything-even though its not my fault? If they try and fine me, I wont go without a fight
Posse Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 Its not your prob Sarah its the person before that will get a slapped wrist
flyingbanana Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 its a scare tactic letter.....just send a letter back to them explaining that you have just required the car etc......and you wont get fined.......i had a scare tactic letter after i had a re bait on tax then they tried to fine me for the time i just had re baited because they didnt sorn it when i got the rebait ....i wouldn't worry about being fined

mossy Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 yeah ive had it loads of times and i just did what jo suggested and you will just get a letter saying 'thank you, we will update our records and will contact the relevent owner at that time'
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 You should be fine missy Although... I ended up with a fine for a bike I had bought and I never received the log book. It only came to light when we got our old postman back. He kindly dropped a final demand through the door from a bayliff company asking for the fine to be payed 'or we send the boys round'. As it turned out, the DVLA got my address wrong and the postman had picked up on it and sent it over to me... shame it wasn't when they had sent the log book out. I had to pay it unfortunatley even though none of it was my fault... I hate the DVLA But you should be fine Sarah... don't have nightmares
