Admin Mk2Jo Posted September 9, 2008 Admin Report Posted September 9, 2008 I know there is nothing worse than being dragged through someone else's holiday photo album and so I have avoided putting up pics until now but a few people have asked me about our holiday so I have succumbed I put the post in here as I thought it the most appropriate place for holiday pics We had an absolutely fantastic adventure, a lot of laughs , some stunning scenery, encountered some nice people and some real arseholes (arrogant Italians). We saw some beautiful countries (Germany, Austria, Malta) and some shitty ones (Italy and Sicily - main routes and port areas very dirty). There were many, many highs, a few lows and I am left with some fantastic memories as a result of which I am struggling to get back into my "pre-Malta" life ..... most of them due to the brilliant companions we had on our trip namely the Doughty's and the Jenkins' families and, of course, the wonderful Maltese boys and girls ... so here we go ... a brief look at our holiday .... look away now if you are not interested Day One: Dover - Dunkerque ... the journey begins .... On The Road: Belgium Germany: Heading towards Saarlouis where all the RS2000 MK2 Escorts were built Night One: In the German forests Day Two: Bodensee (Lake Constance) Germany Night Two: Near Bludenz (German/French border) our campsite for the night Day Three: Germany - Black Forest Day Three: Austria into Italy - The Brenner Pass The Italian motorways : Night Four: Napoli harbour and our overnight ferry crossing from Napoli to Sicily: Day Five: Palermo, Sicily (the place with no signs anywhere ) Travelling across Sicily - a view of Mount Etna (in the background) an active volcano: The afternoon of Day Five: Our 2 hour catamaran crossing from Pozzallo (Sicily) to Malta Our arrival at Malta and straight to Stefan's garage to fit Posse's new engine - no time to hang around : HAL-FAR RACEWAY ~ MALTA (Team OSF UK/Malta branch): Even the Maltese police were interested but not for the same reasons as those in the UK Wearing our OSF London-Hal-Far T-Shirts with pride courtesy of Sprocket and James's missus Charlie and Alex (Drag Addict and Joker) The money shot We even found time to do other things A day at the Water Park and the Malta Classic Car Museum: The beautiful port of Valletta, Malta and it's home we go : Back across Sicily: Napoli: The trip home through Italy : A night at Innsbruk (beautiful campsite in a stunning location): Back across the Fernpass Austria: And finally back to Dunkerque for our final ferry I took almost 500 photos and so these are just a few. Roll on 2009

Looks like your journey there was more interesting than ours, stuck on a cramp plane for three hours. As I said before we totally loved Malta and it was made even better because we had the chance to meet up with team OSF and the Maltese crew and watch some top racing.
