Jeff HPE Motorsport Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 We took James` car to the rollers today after missing the slot before, & running it at the Pod anyway, of which he run 2 x 11.7s. anyway back to the rollers, after several adjustments to ignition & cam timing, & a couple of jet changes, it made 228 BHP, we were very pleased with the result, & now can`t wait for the Brighton speed trials this weekend, of which James, my Dad, & Andy will be taking part.. Jeff Harris

Jeff HPE Motorsport Posted September 10, 2008 Author Report Posted September 10, 2008 any idea waht it was running when it ran the 11.7 then sounding good Jeff Hello Sam I kid you not, the first run on the rollers, & that is as it came off the track at Santapod, was 189bhp, when we saw that, we looked at one another & pulled a funny face, & said how could that have run them times with that hp, anyway every adjustment we made after that just got better & better, & when the final 228bhp was there we were very happy.. The engine is Fab, another thing was that that car with engine, has only done 10 miles if that, from when I built it & fitted it into the car. We are really looking forward to Brighton Speed trials, & of course doing some runs at SantaPod & Shakey. " NUFF SAID " Jeff Harris..

ekjim Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Very impressive! Was this power taken from the fly or the wheels?

Jeff HPE Motorsport Posted September 11, 2008 Author Report Posted September 11, 2008 Great power Jeff. Got to be pleased with that!! See you all there. Yeh Toby, was very pleased with that, we knew that it would be in the 220s, cos of the ingredients that were used, & as you know, you can do a dozen engines, with the same parts & spec, & most will have the same power output, but you get the odd 1 or 2 that will have a bit more & I think this one is a gooden, See you at Brighton mate.. Jeff Harris..
Jeff HPE Motorsport Posted September 11, 2008 Author Report Posted September 11, 2008 Very impressive! Was this power taken from the fly or the wheels? Fly. Jeff Harris.

CHEVY Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 Any news from Brighton yet,how did James get on and any other old skool fords that were racing??.
Toby Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 Hats off to James and Jeff!! James 12.3....won his class
Toby Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 I don't know, which sounds odd but I was a a bit put out by my own performance. I ran 13.35 at 95 on a slippery track, 13.4 with my passenger window open at 96 I think, and 13.4 on a grippy track but missed 4th. I really thought I would be up on terminal and down on time, I seem to be missing HP, just can't gt my head round it and a bit disillusioned by it Everyone was initially down on terminal speed, but I would be interested on James, Rons and Andy's terminals to see if they were down later on in the day, although again I didn't learn anything bacause of what I got wrong above You just want to go faster every year, I really wanted to beat my 13.19 and thought I would. The thing is that I had changed a few things. The engine hasn't been run anywhere since I re-built it cos of the cam foller issue I had, I ran a lower diff than previously at Brighton, I changed something in the engine when I rebuilt it and don't know if it has improved things. Cheers for asking Russ - bet you wish you hadn't Sorry Jeff....Your thread back
