Pulled a strut off Custard the other week and managed to pull out a load of rust too. After a bit of investigation look what I've uncovered. One is not amused to say the least....

Looks that way, always wanted to learn to weld properly, no excuses now. Any ideas who does the best fitting repair panels for the above?

i always tend to use the hadrians stuff and always seems to be pretty good

Not the first time ive seen that on an escort, my mates mk2 had 3 top plates on top of one another

Wings off, chop the whole lot out, top plates, saddles, side supports and start again

Cheap quick fix, i guess when mr. average owned the car it was just to get it through the mot

All being well the wings are coming off next week so I can get a good look at it. The verticals seem to be untouched by the rust on that side so *hopefully* I'll only need to replace the saddle and the strut top, but nothings ever that straightforward right?

 

Means I get to play with my mates Plasma Cutter again though.... happy days
