I spent the weekend anchored in the Mersey for the battle of the atlantic 50 years commemoration ceremonies in 1993. We were entertained by the local CID and ferried around the towns best drinking venues by the local PLOD in their response vans, top weekend, one of the most memorable I ever had in the navy. I still have a print of the painting that was commissioned, it shows us with Queenies yacht in the background.

emu Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 You guess right She was up in fareham creek at the top of the harbour. I live in the elson, just near the old Priddy's hard armaments depot.

emu Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 They do nice food in there nowadays. intrepid was straight out opposite. Did you used to live over here then or were you based here? Was Emmas nightclub going during your time here or would that have been a bit later??
Admin Vista Posted October 9, 2008 Admin Report Posted October 9, 2008 They do nice food in there nowadays. intrepid was straight out opposite. Did you used to live over here then or were you based here? Was Emmas nightclub going during your time here or would that have been a bit later?? I was at Sultan from September 87 to December 90 doing my marine engineering apprenticeship. Emmas was in full swing back then and the G&D smelt of puke every summer! Nelsons was another favourite. You could have a hell of a pub crawl round Gosport back then. Is it still the Jolly Roger then? For a while in the 90´s it was the Hogshead and Halibut (Pig & Fish we called it)
emu Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 You were here shortly after I moved here then. I bet emmas hasnt changed since then though . They had a 'refurb' a couple of years back, but all they seemed to do was shorten the bar The decor certainly didnt change much. The Jolly Roger is back to being the Jolly Roger http://www.thejollyrogergosport.co.uk/index.html Its getting to be more of a pub hike nowadays. Loads of the old pubs have gone I have a book here which works its way around all the pubs that used to be in Gosport and there are a fair few mentioned that arent open anymore.
