emu Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 The admin staff cant be seen to be endorsing your opinions. Imagine a company decided that they were going to sue the site for its content. The admin didnt write the comments, but they allowed them to remain for all and sundry to read. It would be the admin staff who would be stood it court, not you. If the company decide to pursue Posse or Vista (for example) for damages, would your car be there as evidence? would you be financing their defence? Now imagine that the company wins its case. Are you going to be paying the damages and costs??
MK1 Dave Posted October 16, 2008 Author Report Posted October 16, 2008 What's the weather like up there in your ivory tower, Emu? This has all been sorted via PM.
emu Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 Its lovely ta The sun is shining and the birds are singing.
Doc Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Mk1 Dave From someone thats been through this particular ringer big time the best advice i can give is to chill out now you have vented your anger on here. Use the enregy to get it sorted I was so engrossed in the mess of a rogue dealer that i pissed evryone off including the wife and my mates on here it aint worth it ! It consumed me for two years and spoiled the end result when i got the car sorted .... Good luck mate
MightySprocket Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 it is a terrible state of affairs as i am sure you all can 'imagine' i appreciate the potential now for 'agro' for OSF, I didn't realise the fear of being sued (thanks USA) had made it this far Our intentions were only to help other members not make the same mistake and realise that not all companies can be trusted So appologies to admin if my oppinions have caused a problem. The good news is the car is now being done properly, we are servicing the suspension 1st off, the front was done last weekend, the rear is to follow The Fabrication will be done by a good friend of mine (a friend found through having my car done) he is a very decent bloke with a passion for his work, genuine and honest with great skills... who doesn't over charge. Phoenix Motor Bodies http://www.phoenixmotorbodies.co.uk/ and will be repainted by another friend with the same work ethics and if anyone would like work done by either (North West Area) then let me know... they both come highly recomended
mk1super Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Its mores the pitty it has to come to these things. Why is it also if people think your wet behind the ears or new to something then its an excuse to take advatage of your green-ness and try to rip you off? Always wondered why folk have to be so dishonest, to quote what King Henry once said " Cannot an honest man be found?" seems even back then people were trying to pull a fast one!

She'll be the car I've always wanted
MightySprocket Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 the car has been at Phoenix Motor Bodies for 24 hrs and progress is swift the old (NEW ) arches are cut out... all six sets the new arches are welded over the top of two old sets of rotten ones, the quarters were smacked in to allow the new arches to put on the top and then body filler 5mm & 10mm thick in some places all over the quarter. The sills are the same, they are coming off today but again there are 3 sets with the old rotten ones behind the new ones Going back tonight with the camera so pictures that will amaze you will be posted tomorrow
MightySprocket Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 photo's of the previous 'Restoration'
petrolhead Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 Why do people go to all the trouble of repair sections over repair sections? It doesn't take that much more time to cut the Rot out and do it properly, especially if you are doing it for yourself. If I did that for someone else it would weigh very heavily on my concious, even if I didn't like them PS Good progress Mighty Sprocket
285Andy Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 ive seen these sorts of "repairs" (lash ups) time and time again and it always amazes me that somone can sit back and be happy with what theyv'e achieved
mexicostids Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 that is shocking !!! how do these people sleep at night
MK1 Dave Posted November 16, 2008 Author Report Posted November 16, 2008 Its being dealt with. Would you say the sill sections between the door and front of the rear arch were structural?
caprinerd Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 my wife was left some moneys by a relative that passed on and she gave me some as a gift to spend on the capri and i phone a well known company and booked it in for some work to be done they had the car almost 8 months and every time i phoned i got one excuse after another in the end i went there with a couple of mate and the capri was sat out side where id parked it 8 months previous the company had folded and the recievers were comming in i lost the money and had to trailer the car back at my expense plus find the money to do work on the car to make it road worthy, i feel for you mate been on that end of the stick myself as well and would just like to add that not all the guys up north are robbers have had dealings with some really decent guys in fact i think there`s more robbers in london, and being a londoner it really hurts to have to admit that
rsdaz Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 that is shocking i very nearly had this company build me an escort last year as i thought it sounded a great way to get a nice escort but i pulled out at the last minute because i found a car for sale and bought that instead,i feel for you mate and hope you get every thing sorted soon.
MK1 Dave Posted December 16, 2008 Author Report Posted December 16, 2008 Hopefully I'll be able to publicly post some updates soon...
