Admin Mk2Jo Posted November 25, 2008 Admin Report Posted November 25, 2008 A friend "in the know" has told me today that if a buyer cannot be found quickly there is a very real possibility that we could see the demise of Woolie's by the end of this week I dunno about you but Woolie's seems to have been around forever and I think it's a real shame when well known shops/brands have got to the stage where they will be disappearing from our towns The credit crunch seems to be getting closer to home
Copey Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 aye its been around for decades, ther is talk now of the recesion falling into a depression...not good!
4parajon Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 Heard something about this this morning, I believe its being sold "for £1" due to its massive debts.

Admin Mk2Jo Posted November 25, 2008 Author Admin Report Posted November 25, 2008 my daughter has a few freinds working for woolies and i called her about it and she`s now calling some of them and 2 no nothing about it The only time the employees ever know that their company has gone bust is when they arrive for work to find the place boarded up
Tracey Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 Noooooooooooo not Woolworths I got caught shoplifting in there when I was 13 *did I just admit that *
cyrix Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 Happend to Woolworths in America a few years ago, think Wal-Mart bought them (Suprise!) The consumer has so much choice these days, with more specialist shops carrying bigger ranges it was inevitable really, if you want a CD for example you wouldn't rush to Woolworths you would probably go to HMV/whatever instead. They do have a shit hot pick & mix section however
mk1super Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 Sad times indeed Was listening to radio yesterday, and it seems classic car sales have went up seems there one of the few things holding half decent value
Copey Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 Sad times indeed Was listening to radio yesterday, and it seems classic car sales have went up seems there one of the few things holding half decent value aye they are sayin that classics are comin into fasion now as people cant aford new cars so they buy classic car (false economy i feel) but it does mean that they are keepin ther value and hopefully companies will realise and parts will become more available and maybe, dare i say it, cheaper
Fishtailparka Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 Woolies disappeared from Chester about 15 years ago. Then reappeared a few years later Then disappeared again about 6 months ago. Sad in a way, but nowt special in there anyway apart from the pic-n-mix. It was never the same after they stopped selling fishing gear
