i was looking at the price of parts for our beloved OSF's today.

they are outrageously stupid!!!!

such as a mk2 escort F-O-R-D grill is about £100 and the same for some quarter bumpers.

do you think they will continue to raise in price or reach a peak and drop?

discuss

It pains me to say it, but i think they'll just go up. ON the flip side it does mean that more people will think about saving stuff they come across in future.

Yep, I'm with Chris. As time goes on, the rarer it is the more it'll cost you. Though obviously this has to be linked with desirability, I can't see Allegro parts ever really breaking the bank for instance.

they will only go up if people pay the price, use repro glass fibre bumpers £30 for 1/4s,make FORD grills from square 1s

The days of running these cars on a budget of bottle tops is over, just accept it, and stop being so tight.

Parts are still cheaper for most OSF's than our distant cousins with their 'Plastic Fantastics' are paying for their shite....

Just thank the lord you werent born with DNA that makes you like Corsas...

Even tho parts are costin a lot more each time u click on ebay,

There's always an old chap with a load of bits

'jus lying around' in his garage... :D

The good thing about fords is everyone's owned one at some point,

some are pub talkers that dont have a clue, but there are also others

that know a bit and are full of useful information 8)

It was inevitable that prices would go up, they were popular with

youngsters back in the 80's, and now those youngsters kids have

moved out and their houses are paid so they can afford the

rally replica mex they wanted but couldn't afford back then

jus my tuppence worth...

Yeah, I'm needing some panels for the Anglia, had an offer of £1400 for my Mk1, which is half way completed, but come to realise this will only cover the wings and front panel and the same again will be needed to have the welding and paint done :?

Thing is while escorts go for top dollar Anglias, while the parts cost a fortune, don't go for a lot, I paid £1200 for it and must have spent £600 on it the past year, and I've ended up doing it standard as the history is complete and cost of tuned suspension, it just is pointless modding it, though its fun as is. I'm worried I'm going all dull and concourse, its frightening, the escy was half way to being a lil beastie. Prob what I've spent on the Anglia would have had the Escort done, but what I've been offered for the Escort wont even pay for the parts let alone the work to be finished. If it were choice I wouldn't sell either, but I'm starting to think I'm doing things the wrng way round, especially as the escort needs a lot less work and the Anglia was jsut a runaround while the escort got finished then to be the next project... Standard Anglia or Modded Mk1? I'm worried I wont even get what I've spent on that Anglia though, let alone what I paid for it in the first place. :(

A story close to my own experience, I spent around £10000 restoring my Mk1 Capri GXL, when I sold it (in a moment of madness) 3 or 4 years later I could only get £3250 fot it. And it was mint

If I were you mate I'd stick with the Escort, you stand more chance of a reasonable return should you ever need to sell. Put the Anglia on the backburner till funds are available, I know we do it for the love of the cars and hang the expense, but who can afford to keep losing these kind of sums?

Posted

Yeah, I thought it'd be great to make some more funds but now seems like madness as I realised its actually a damned site better than the anglebox, think a tuned up MK1 would be more fun than a stock 997 105E anyway really.
