gpcmatric Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 any one had knee op ? ligament probs, how long it takes to recover?
over_head_cam Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Is it your ACL? If so, I don't know sorry I had a tear in the cartilage repaired and I was up and about in a couple of days and back to normal in 2 weeks
gpcmatric Posted February 18, 2009 Author Report Posted February 18, 2009 it sounds like it could be what beckham had a few years ago .Very painful even to sleep went for check up waited 3 weeks for that, waiting for scan now.what a joke .NHS so slow.
Pipster007 Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 My Aunt just a knee replacement and she was up and about in a couple of days You just have to keep bending it and working it
sab6024 Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 All my oldies that have had replacements are up and about in a couple days....just make sure you do the exercises they give you
accord83 Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 Had the ligaments? either side of my knee cap done, one shortened, one lengthened. Consultant said it would be keyhole surgery, one side no scar, other side...... he must have a bloody big door!!! . Day patient, next day told to walk 10yds, then double it each day, fine after a few days, and no pain. Far better than lots of pain and a knee that folded randomly.
morcheen Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 my mates had about 8 ops on his knee now,and wishes he left it as it was after his bike accident. got a dodgy knee myself
barney9969 Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 i have had 3 ops on my right knee to repair my pcl.. they drilled 8 holes all round my knee..they harvested tendons from my inner thigh to pull everything together then put 2 40mm screws and a staple to hold it all together... from 3 ops i have been of for about a year in total....its taken 3 years in total tho......... better now tho....
gpcmatric Posted February 20, 2009 Author Report Posted February 20, 2009 Wow i might just do it myself got a drill and some screws.the time off work is the pain cant afford flat money too many kids .some one said it could be 6 weeks
WHIPPET Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 Hi, had left knee op (key hole surgery) was in for a day and had real problems afterwards! Had 6 weeks off work, knee swollen to huge size, couldn't bend knee and was in absolute agony 24/7. Had physiotherapy and hydrotherapy, which hurt a lot. 4 years down the line knee is perfect, glad I had it done now. Shame other one is on the way out!! Everyone is different when it comes to healing. Mate of mine had same done and was back at work next day!! Good luck.
gpcmatric Posted February 21, 2009 Author Report Posted February 21, 2009 got scan date 1/3/09 then probably have to wait another 3 weeks for results
over_head_cam Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 You'll be fine mate. If all else fails we could make a new knee out of OSF parts
gpcmatric Posted February 25, 2009 Author Report Posted February 25, 2009 cheers ohc .got to go to have x ray on eye first thing in morning,or cant have scan on monday. as doing my job if you have any metal fragments in your eyes they can heat up when you have mri scan.need to get it sorted
Daggle Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 Funnily enough I am going into hospital on Monday to have my knee op, I am having the cartlidge in the left knee shaved off, plus having it all flushed out. Should be off work for about 3 weeks, quite looking forward to puttin me feet up for a bit
gpcmatric Posted February 26, 2009 Author Report Posted February 26, 2009 Hope it all goes well for you.had x ray no bits of metal,if you had any metal in your eyes the magnetic field in the mri scanner could pull the fragments out and might blind you ouch!!!
