danny69 Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 Got my MOT last week So first time I have driven my car in the two years since I have had it! And the first time it has been driven on a highway in twenty years Got a rolling road tune up booked for tomorrow as it isn`t running how it should, hopefully that will sort it. I have still got to put on the Gold stripes and badges but i need to get the paintwork mopped first.
danny69 Posted April 15, 2009 Author Report Posted April 15, 2009 Yes it is Vista only 2 previous owners and 73,000 from new. Although I must confess to pulling out the pinto and replacing it with an Essex. The interior is all original though and in very good order. I have just tweaked the engine, wheels and running gear, oh and fitted a Mk2 "S" front spoiler even though they wern`t available until a year later. But it is how I would have loved to have one back in the day, so period mods mostly.

DEP Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 Looks stunning mate I must admit, with the size of the air filter, I thought it was running a V8

danny69 Posted April 16, 2009 Author Report Posted April 16, 2009 Thanks for the positve comments!! I have just got back from Thurston Engineering in Ongar after a quick set up and a couple of power runs. It made 180.6 bhp @ 5750 rpm with over 174 lb of torque, could have been better but it is fun to drive now

danny69 Posted April 16, 2009 Author Report Posted April 16, 2009 thats impressive! whats the spec of the motor?? It has powermax pistons, big valve heads, fast road cam, lightened and balanced bottom end, steel timing gear and a holley 390 carb.
danny69 Posted April 16, 2009 Author Report Posted April 16, 2009 Looks the nuts mate, well More pics when you have buffed her up and added the stripes...please. Will do! I just need to find somewhere local who will do it for me, I don`t fancy doing it myself. Although I will apply the stripes myself.
stickerboy Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 My very first car was a Mk2 JPS pretty much the same as that one. Pity I was only 15 at the time and never got to drive it on the road.
