Admin Vista Posted May 28, 2009 Admin Report Posted May 28, 2009 Pulls the leads off and the engine continues to run.
Admin Vista Posted May 28, 2009 Admin Report Posted May 28, 2009 Never seen it on a petrol engine before but guess it could come from fuel diluted sump oil igniting from hot spots in the combustion chamber..........or alternatively he could be scamming us and it could be another engine running off camera that we can't see, there's not much motion visible on that engine after all On a diesel it can happen if you're getting sump oil into the combustion chamber, the engine runs on that despite you shutting off the fuel supply...............typically it continues running until there's no oil left.

Whip the airbox off & wedge something large in the intake! My mate blew up a turbo diesel on an MOT test run yesterday It failed on emissions so he took it for a blast to clear it out & it went bang he was sat on the edge of the road with it running on, just had to wait till it destroyed itself!
BIGKEV Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 Ah Yes - thats How I killed Em's Sierra estate - It basically ate itself to death - at full chat too - had to call the fire brigade lol

Apprently that engine was well known for it, cylinder no. 4 was poorly cooled... Crummy Pug lump.
Takeshi Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 Thats what I thought, but a diesel flat out would probably just about pull away lol.
