Posse Posted December 17, 2006 Author Report Posted December 17, 2006 stop moanin and buy some there on order lee
bomber1 Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 what about reliant robins and simitars which are all made of fibreglass and no cages
S2 Dee Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Scimitars were all g/f if that is anything to go by, same with Jensons. Nothing on the Smith and Deakin web site that says they are not road legal either.

Baz. Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 well i just dont know who would make such a door
Gareth Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Scimitars were all g/f if that is anything to go by, same with Jensons. No offence m8 but only the CV8 (and I think the 541 ) was a glass body. I've got an Interceptor sat in my garage thats made from heavier gauge steel than my escy. It's even got the rust to prove it
EmmaOrbit Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Isn't fibre glass really hard to align, just wounded as i want fibre glass. Steel does seem safer (kids and all). I hate decisions.
Posse Posted December 17, 2006 Author Report Posted December 17, 2006 Isn't fibre glass really hard to align, just wounded as i want fibre glass. . it is emma but if you have got a good mould to work form i think your sorted
bozie Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 fiberglass is good but hard to make the finish look as good as the car body

Retromotorsport Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 I'm not 100% sure but most grp doors on production models had steel bars connecting the hinges with the lock. Personally from my experience i would lighten a steel door, they can be lighter than the GRP ones, and dont crack at the windows, also they lift out at high speeds so you have a gale whistling in your ears. If you have good door shells then you can get an alloy skin,
Rick Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 weld in some door bars, would be an arse to get in and out though for a daily car
pelvins Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 Isn't fibre glass really hard to align, just wounded as i want fibre glass. Steel does seem safer (kids and all).I hate decisions. tell me about it fiba glass is a nightmare to align and look good , but i managed it
60ftman Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 Quality and fit of the doors rely on the quality of the mould. Check out the doors (and for that matter wings, bonnet, nosecone, bootlid) on my Escy. All 'glass. (strangely enough, all of the glass is plastic!) The doors need re-aligning now, but that's only cos they've been off the car for ages and stored badly! Go fibreglass - you know it makes sense!!!!
Mark2Mark Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 If you have good door shells then you can get an alloy skin, Where can you get alloy door skins from and how would you fit them?

Onyx Dave Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 Ex press steel panels do alloy door skins but there not cheap. You fold them over like normal skins and bond them instead of welding them.
BIG G Posted December 19, 2006 Report Posted December 19, 2006 you building some kind of light weight special with all these grp panels.but a hell is very flexible with no doors fitted just jack a corner and open a door. but fook all that on the 1/4 mile no bends there....
