Yes they Do,

My brother went through a really bad time for about 8 years.

Got into drugs and would lie and steal, of nearly all his family and things were getting really bad. he was almost 8 stone in weight in and out of prison.

Then lost his partner due to an over dose.

Now he is 7 years into a 10 year plan, he has been to university and now has letters after his name, (He left school with no qualifications)

Now he is a fully qualified drug councellor, and has help 100`s of people get of drugs and has just started his 3rd company...

He is looking to retire in 3 years time with other people running his companies,

Whilst he spends quality time with his daughter.

To say im proud of him is an understatement

People can change, i have seen it in him, and others he has helped!!

As for a girl being a slapper i think once a girl has been about so to speak, she will always have that reputation...

but when i was young i loved a good ole slapper to be honest :lol::lol:

People can and do change - its an ability we all have, if we feel the need to do so, otherwise the human race would have died out long ago - its in our genes improvise, adapt, and overcome for our own survival.

People are a product of their envoironment, and if it changes, we change to suit. We each have are own predispositions but we all know how to rise to differing occasions and demands in life ...adulthood, monogamy, poverty, wealth, parenthood, peer pressure ...whatever the new day brings.

edit - AND WHILE I WAS TYPIN ALL THAT CRAP i MISSED THE BEER SHOP :x

my son has changed dramatically in the past 4 years, dont really want to get in to detail so lets just say hes 'kicked' it....

no hes got a lovely house, lovely partner , given us 2 georgous grandkids, got himself a great job, re-claimed his driving licence, worked hard and bought a nice motor , completely turned his life around, you would not think he was the same person. im so fookin proud of him.

There can be a lot of reasons why people change.

I live down south, my parents started out living in a mobile home in his brothers garden.Hes worked his the round ones off in Plant Hire and Groundworking now as well as that he owns a spray shop that sprays Alan Manns, Rowan Atkinsons and many others classic racers. Lets say ive been given an amazing start in life, and at times hes been more than a little tough on me. But because of all the spoilt kids in the area i live in , i was a little shit. Got into drugs (didnt end up boosting cars mind you) partying all the time and generally ignoring everything my parents said.

When i got to 18 my dad got ill, East surrey hospital couldnt diagnose him, and for a year this tree trunk armed manual labourer withered in front of my eyes to a grey skinned shell. And at this point i had a major epiphany, I realised that it looked like i was watching my dad die. After various scans and diagnoses (various types of cancer basically) they decided to do exploratory surgery as he had an enlarged spleen. His spleen was so infected that they had to remove it and a 3rd of his pancreas. Hes slowly been fighting off this infection since the op (2 years ago nearly). And hes still not clear of it. But ever since i have really appreciated everything i have been given and have started working at trying to succeed at my job etc. Granted its not as big a change as some people make. But im so glad i made it before it was too late.

That being said. Some people, No matter what, Never change.

ive seen people change from bad to good from good to bad

From when i was young , growing up my neighbour was a herion addict from the age of 15 and would steal ,lie cheat and fook anyone over for a wrap , in 2002 he was jailed for several robberys etc to feed his habit and when he got out of jail and rehab he turned his life around he has held a job down for 3 yrs has 2 kids a house and really done well for himself at the moment he is writing an auto biography of his life from 15 to present to try and make kids/young adults understand what an addiction like herion can do to you ....

after doing everything he could to change and did change he was starting to get his relationship back with his parents when unfortunatly last week his dad passed away from a heart attack , this unfortunatley triggered the want back for the herion that he had worked so hard to kick over the last 5-6 yrs because he couldnt cope with the fact that his dad had gone since last wednesday he admitted himself to a clinic wrote his wife a letter explaining the situation and has basically declared himself a prisoner until he feels he can face the real world again to me that is a big thing to do knowing that if he had picked up the habit again he would of ruined his , his wifes and his childrens lifes for the forseeable future .

i reckon people can change if they want to ......... but the saying i think that must be the truest of them all is a person cant be helped to change or helped in general unless they are willing too .
