Capri18 Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 This weathers great and all but its making me sneezy like crazy! It's well annoying when your trying to tack a panel onto the car and then bam you sneeze and weld spatter runs all the way up the side of the car! Anyone else suffer from it? i dont think these tablets are working anymore
Mrs O/H/C Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 Year in, Year out,... Its more that my eyes water and itch so much ..pollen count has been very high this month and tablets help but not take it away
FredTransit Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 Nope, I don't really have any allergies.
oddball Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 I haven't had hay fever for a few years but got it quite bad this year not sure why been taking the 1 day tablets and they do seem to help Apparently if you eat locally produced honey, its meant to build up your immunity to the pollen in your area,my mum swears by it but not really for me
Takeshi Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 Mine isn't doing great this year, my eyes are really bad sometimes... But I think I have a mix of man flu and hayfever...
Mr2Caps Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 Have suffered from really bad hayfever since I was about 11, have had medication on prescription for it before now. Have found in the past that I have had to change tablets every couple of years as they seem to stop working. Have also found that some of the cheaper own brand one a day tablets from the supermarkets work as well as the more expensive brands with fancy adverts on the telly. Best to try different solutions until you find one that works!
bortaf Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 Bloody hate it, got allergys 365 days but the summer is worse, i take 4 or 5 pills a day in the summer which TBH makes me feel stoned all the time I get em on perscription citirazene (sp?) i get. had it since i was 4, can't eat strawberrys or mellon or me airways close up and i pass out puffer on standby When it's right bad me eye swell up and i loose focus fortunatly me kids only get the astma and eczema (all connected) part of it
sampedlar06 Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 ive hot it nose runs eyes run not good especially when your boss gets you to cut a really slowery hedge and chucks grass cutting on the skip i sneesed so hard today i got a nosebleed
Toby Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 Best to try different solutions until you find one that works! I have suffered for years having tried Piriton and another one - neither worked. A few years ago my other half brought me home "Alereaze" (or the boots equivilent) I took 1 for 2 consecutive days and that seems to last me the season (cos I forgot on the 3rd day and noticed it had gone!) I am really impressed, I was pretty bad with it, as you say it drives you crazy and you can't get anything done. Snot runs out of you like water! I've taken 2 so far this year - I'll see how I am tomorrow....

I can't remember if i've tried them but i'll give em a go, piriton make me drowzy if i take more than 4, yes i know your only sposed to take 1 but 1 does fook all, it takes 3 just so i can see and when i sneeze it puts me back out fook sake i'm knackerd and aint even 40 yet
Toby Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 I can't remember if i've tried them but i'll give em a go, piriton make me drowzy Me too and did fook all... I get em on perscription citirazene (sp?) i get. You might want to seak advice before mixing too many pills! "Dr Toby told me to" might not cut it at A&E!
bortaf Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 Piriton is a brand name cetirizine (sp) is the drug (apparently according to me chemist), the chemists give me whatevers in stock i go through 90 odd a month in the summer but just 1 a day the rest of the year ANyone else get i worse when it rains? mines allway better on a sunny day, doc recons it's grass i'm allergic to which is why i get it all year round ?
mk1mexico Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 Iv never personally suffered from hayfever, however Piriton is almost a lifesaver for me. If i come into contact with 'dry' chlorine I.E for example a pair of swimming shorts that have just been dried not washed, and used again (do it without thinking when on holiday etc) then i am hospitalised, within 30 mins my whole body is in blisters and i struggle for breath. Luckily only happened twice in my lifetime, once in Greece, once on a school sports day when i borrowed a Yellow T Shirt from a friend who had been swimming in it and not told me. Yet an hour or so after a couple of Piriton all is well
5hane Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 i use to get it bad, not been too bad this year. Get it when grass is cut etc, but its definatly calmed down. But im allergic to horse hair big time , if i go near a horse - thats it for the next hour or so, get a headach, cant stop sneezing etc etc just generally feel crap.
Toby Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 ANyone else get i worse when it rains? ? Yes worse for me too when it rains....but..... Day 3 - my first without a tablet - no hay fever.....? Alereez - Loratadine active ingredient I think. Unbelievable.
emzy Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 I get hayfever really badly, its horrible... I seem to get it worse when the weather is pants thought! I've been taking those piriteze max strength ones and they seem to be working better than the other ones Still crap though as I can never enjoy summer time, roll on winter! lol

Alereez - Loratadine active ingredient I think. Unbelievable. I have found that the tablets that contain loratadine are the best for me, they seem to be the only ones that make it almost go away completely. Been getting mine from supermarket under their own brand. I think that it gets worse when it rains because all the pollen drifts up into the upper atmosphere gradually, it gets forced down when it rains and therefore you get a concentrated dose, well its a theory anyway! All I know is its not fun!
