Savvi Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 Stripped and cleaned the bay on my Mk1 Escort estate with the help of Big Daz and another mate Neil. Big question do i paint it body colour or as i experimented today leave it black ?
Copey Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 if its being used then keep it black, easier to keep clean
Savvi Posted July 7, 2009 Author Report Posted July 7, 2009 I've had it for 18 months and not used it yet But yes the idea is to use it as a daily. This was underseal i put on after tidying up the welds around the top plates etc, i intended to paint over, hopefully giving it some protection, but after seeing it as is i'm not so sure what to do.Don't want it mint then i wont want to use it !!! Does look a bit bright though

Savvi Posted July 7, 2009 Author Report Posted July 7, 2009 It says you can on the label I hope so if not i'll be striping it all off again
escort21 Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 Always body colour as it looks like its had a cheapo spray over otherwise
Admin Vista Posted July 8, 2009 Admin Report Posted July 8, 2009 Always body colour as it looks like its had a cheapo spray over otherwise what he said
tazrocks88 Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 Always body colour as it looks like its had a cheapo spray over otherwise what he said what they said
flyingbanana Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 Always body colour as it looks like its had a cheapo spray over otherwise what he said what they said cant argue with that
Stu_B Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 Strut tops, bulkhead & slam panel orange, rest of the bay black. That way it doesn't look like a cheapo resray & it should look pretty clean as well
D-FENS Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 My engine bay is black but would much prefer body colour .
EscortHeadCase Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Black. Dunno why. Ever since i saw under the bonnet of Alan Manns tina, capri, 107e and both Escorts. Just think its a good look. (Either that or be completely different and do it White or another colour to the bodwork)
Russian Bear Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Depends how you want to use the motor, if i was gona create a minter i would paint the engine bay orange the same as the body, as it looks cleaner and would make the engine look more aesthetically prominent and tidy. If as you say you want it as a daily, you wont worry so much about dirt oil and other crud so paint it black!!
Savvi Posted July 9, 2009 Author Report Posted July 9, 2009 My daily use is only a couple of times a week as a runaround, as i use the van most of the time. It's now 50 50 so it's not helped me decide yet
bigdaz27 Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 for god sake just paint it black and hury up about it
