My Capri 2.0S daily driver

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

See pics of my Capri 2.0S daily driver:

It was previously stored in a barn & only used during dry summer times. Well looked after, only rust is on drivers wing, solid underneath, very little welding done. New cam, new exhaust, original strut tops, basically very solid & competent car. Guy was rerluctant to sell but needed the money.

What do you guys think?

Hey all,

Just a couple of updates. I've had a nightmare few months with it. After my spin back in November I was struggling to find out what was causing my grinding noise. I changed the n/s TCA & then the front ARB. I was also determined to sort the whiny gearbox out as well as get a front brake upgrade.

I eventually took it to Old Ford Autos & they had a proper look at it. Turns out I had actually bent the strut casing. I sourced another one & got a recon gearbox sorted, as 3rd gear seemed to be on its way out. A muppet had rebuilt my gearbox so I left it to Old Ford Autos to sort.

Got the car back last Wednesday & got it home, no probs. Went off to local BP & Halfrauds for cleaning stuff (ready for Boxhill) & had a knocking noise, got home - oil from damper was leaking! Too it back to Old Ford Autos the next day, had it back to me in half a day free of charge - happy with that!

Those of you down at Boxhill would have seen my car, here's the mods I've had done & got recently:

Old rad cowling panel:

Old against refurbed panel (Ebay find):

Refurbed panel fitted:

I also fitted clear indicator lenses, which I love the front end, just need some chrome bulbs:

And Oldford Autos fitted poly bushes the the ARB mountings, Goodridge braided hoses & Red dot 6 groove discs with Mintex pads:

So far, good progress, got a long way to go!

Yeah it's actually a P100.

My original P100 was orange built by Rob Grigg @ Normandy Auto Salvage (or Ooh Ooh Motorsport for those that know) & I bought it first P100 creation off him in 2005, had it featured in Fast Ford magazine in 2006 & wrote it off the very next day after the mag came out!

I was gutted, & vowed to rebuild it. The original chassis cab was bent to buggery, so Rob sourced me another cab, which is what you see here. Got a lot of work to do as it's sat outside like that for 3 years & the chassis is 18 years old. Lots of rust to do but with limited tools & money just not much I can do with right now.

Been busy recently with Santa Pod & loads of other stuff going on but I finally got rid of the stripes. I didn't like them from the start, mainly because while red stripes suit the colour of the car they don't look right with the "S" stripe. Some Superlites are on order from Midland Wheels so when I get them + tyres I'll have it on. The Surrey Capri Club is holding a rolling road session start of July so I'll be going along to that because I need to know how much power my car is producing, then I can work on spending money on the exhaust manifold & custom exhaust. I think a subtle but potent ICE system will be next, but I don't want to deviate too much from originality simply because everything works!

Whilst my Capri doesn't have many updates because it's straight & very little bodywork needs attention (still the rust on the drivers wing remains) I can get on with subtle upgrades & using it as my daily driver. I still love it though!
