Harm someone?

One of my friends rallies 205s and has looked at my cage and told me to destroy it.

thing is i was gona sell it anyway as i dont do cages.

hes shown me several design faults in the cage and a total lack of clasps/half monn clamps double bolted.. whatever that means :? he said the rear hoop is drilled through and takes a captive bolt inside the cage front part, if any bolt shears which it will the cage instantly turns into a lethal weapon in the evert of a roll over, there are 4 fixings like this

i was gona put it in the ads for 50 quid... but i was thinking if i did and someone come to harm i could never live with meself.

my friend has advised me to destroy it... his words "it wouldnt take much, a small hammer should do it".

thing is its 50 quid id be throwing away...what would you do

Where did you get it?

i aquired it... thats all im saying... dont want to piss anyone off or anything... lets just say i aquired it and leave it at that, it looks brand new though :?

my mates looked at the rear cage and said appart from the drilled holes it may be safe to use the rear section but it would need a load test, but the front end is a certian serious injury waiting to happen.

itl be skipped tomorrow

i could, but now my mates shown me a bit about it this thing could really do damage in an accident... think id rather skip it... it could save someone getting really hurt.

you wont find any "Show cages" as thayre called in any of my cars.

you could always sell it strictly as a show cage and make sure everyone knows that its not for any form of motorsport use?

but if it was me, cut it up and bin it

Instead of posting on here have you taken your concerns up with the manufacturer? Maybe they can shed some light on the subject, rather than your 'mate'

im not even sure if its a manufacturers cage Phil :? , its not a branded cage.

Dont worry, il just bin it... might sell the rear part is thats should be ok.

i gota go with what my man says though, hes been building sponsored peugeot rally cars for over 20 years, and has had great success in his own cars, he knows how to build a rally car i cant deny him that.

so glyn who says your mates right in what he says. rallying a 205 . phone ------- and ask him were the cage came from. ive seen it and like most cage's its not FIA approved but would do its job if needed. no manufacture would sell this sort of item if it did'nt do what it says on the packet.

I really do think you should take this up with the manufacturer before you make any assumptions on whether it is fit for purpose or not based on what your "mate" says (even if your "mate" is a qualified/certified expert on rally cages) You need, at the very least, to hear the manufacturers opinion I would have thought to make the decision about whether to sell it on or not ... that is, after all, the reason you started the post isn't it .... ?
