have had no probs.....

But you're a "Gentleman" driver who drives in leather string back driving gloves and a tweed jacket with suede elbow patches. You'll never find the full potential of your gearshifts, Malcom.:mrgreen: That's why you've never had a problem

aaaaaaaaa! thats why the one on the viva stays buzzing in long straights. Thanks i had no clue it's a common problem.

(P.S: i fitted a 2nd hand quaife quickshift because when i put the pinto in the gearleaver was hitting the handbrake)

depends what you want.

some people buy the kit but they come apart when driving tis been known.

rose jointed ones buzz when driving.

I use a rose jointed one and so does my dad in his mk1. lets face it. at 4000rpm with an ashley exhaust and twin 40 carbs you arent gonna hear the passenger next to you let alone a gear leaver buzzing :ykt:

When my Rose jointed Quickshift started to rattle, I fitted a grease nipple to the side of the bearing, pumped it with med/heavy grease and thst stopped it,

I converted my 4 speed quickshift to fit a 5 speed from buit of old tat I had in the garage. I used a 3 bolt fitting plate from a normal 5 speed and I just happend to have a nut from a pneumatic cylinter that was the same size as the thread on the big nut on the 4 speed, fitted the plate to the bottom of the 4 speed nut and locked together with the air cylinder nut, worked a treat!!

I take it that you fitted the grease nipple to the 4 speed quickshifter and not the t9 5 speed quick shifter??

just bought a rose jointed 5 speed quick shifter and there doesnt appear to be much "meat" in the casting to tap a grease nipple into compared to my type2 quick shifter...
