They never made a 1300 4 door Sport only a 1600 one. It may have had an engine downgrade, check the engine number (on the engine not log book) to see if it matches the last digits og the VIN no. The 4 door Sports were only available from January 1975 to I think July 1976. I doubt the car was Nordic Blue originally as thats a much later colour it could be Olympic Blue.

it was registered on 11.02.1976, It is a similar colour to nordic blue and it stes on the logbook Ford Escort 1300 Sport 4 door saloon.

I have heard someone quote that before however the Ford Escort Factory Workshop manual shows that Olympic blue is available also I have a dealer only information pack that states Olympic Blue is available on the Escort and i've seen atleast 2 press cars that appear to be in Olympic Blue.

I'm guessing early 1975 cars were available in that colour before it was dropped.

With regard to the 1300 Sport 4 door the original March 1975 Escort brochure states that a 1300 4 door Sport is not available and I have read it elsewhere too. However they may have made it an option in 1976 but it definately wasn't available at launch.

I have spoken to the chap this morning and he said the car has been in the family from new, it was ordered by his aunt, it is original colour and the engine number is the same as the numbers at the end of the vin. It says on the log book

Make: Ford

Model: Escort 1300 Sport

Body type: 4 Door Saloon

colour: Blue

Cylinder Capacity: 1298cc

It comes with Original bill of sale and lots of history, tax discs, m.o.ts etc.

Hi All,

I am also about to get my hands on a light blue left hand drive Mk 2 1300 sport 4 door.

It is quite tired but rust free, still totally original and wears original paint and decals, I was sceptic when i saw it and thought someone had mocked it up but its too original and perfect spec and trim to be false..

So they do exsist, but I cannot find any info on them either

Like I said this was for the euro market as its LHD.

Regards John.

Hahaha that happens alot but this is probably a record for an old thread being resurrected! If your searching for a 4 door Sport start a thread of your own in the Old Skool Ford Cars Wanted section and someone may have something or point you in the right direction. Welcome to the Forum!

I rather enjoyed reading my comments from 11 years ago, I still stand by what I wrote regarding the availability of UK spec 4 door 1300 Sports (they were available overseas).  Also I was correct on Olympic Blue being available on the MKII, I can 100% confirm that as I now own a 1975 1300 L in Olympic Blue.

Do you know what the version code should be on the chassis plate for a mk2 Sport? I have an early mk2 I am looking at providing a dating certificate for but am unsure from the details I have what model it is. The chassis plate decodes to a 1300GT engine and 3.89:1 CWP so I can only think the 1300GT engine equates to a Sport....but not 100% certain.

No I'm not sure what the version code is, I think I've seen conflicting information on this for the Sport.  The 1300GT engine was also in the MKII 1300 Ghia.
