Grizzley Dell Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 i know the diff i realy want is a 3.7 for high speed rather than 4.1 for acceleration. (correct me if wrong). but they are silly dosh. what sort of go will a 3.89 give me. cheers
Fiesta Steve Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Don't forget your tyre profile plays the same roll as the cwp when it comes to gearing
Grizzley Dell Posted January 28, 2010 Author Report Posted January 28, 2010 i had that feeling but not to sure how the ratios work. cheers

Burns Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 well its a greek to me. what axel does a mk1 eckie have, atlas or english? english usually
Admin Vista Posted January 29, 2010 Admin Report Posted January 29, 2010 well its a greek to me. what axel does a mk1 eckie have, atlas or english? You will have an english axle. Re diffs, a higher number will give quicker accel for reduced top speed and higher engine rpm for the same speed in each gear. A lower number the opposite, i.e. slower accel but higher top speed, lower engine rpm for the same speed in each gear, this gives better economy. Tyres have much the same effect, a taller tyre like a 175/70/13 will give better top speed and economy but slower acceleration than a 175/50/13.
