JAY PS Posted February 13, 2010 Author Report Posted February 13, 2010 Robin hood spring to mind ,dont they earn enough money ! People i talk to are going to pistonheads and autotrader !
banarama Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 like every thing the more popular it gets more money/ used to be able to get a bargain ,hard work now.
andy a Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 The thing is that when you compare the coverage you get on Ebay compared to other sites its still cost effective, not sure what Autotrader charge these days but used to run at 40 odd quid a week for a basic box ad, makes 15 quid for a classified on thiefbay look good
retrorigg Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 people including me will just stop selling things on it if there starting to get greedy
andy a Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 people including me will just stop selling things on it if there starting to get greedy They started to get greedy 5 years ago, then they got even more greedy 3 years ago and a lot of sellers said they were leaving, then again 18 months ago and again a lot of sellers said they were off but stayed, I was running probably 45% of my business through there 3 years ago but now dont touch it unless I've got a couple of personal bits to get rid of... The moral being that lots will say they will leave but wont, Ebay will continue to earn more money a month than most will see in their life times and the world will still go round Before I walked away from selling on Ebay I looked at a lot of alternatives to replace the (rapidly decreasing) lost revenue, and the answer was... there isn't one, 99.9% of people wanting to sell something aim it in Ebay's direction without a second thought, the other auctions that are out there dont have the amount of traffic available to generate sales and therefore cant generate the revenue needed to pay for the advertising to generate the traffic, its a vicious cycle that anyone thinking of competing with them would need to find millions to fund their way through and would need a lot of time and a back wind to still make a go of it, as much as I'd like to see a viable alternative spring up I cant see it happening just now
BIGKEV Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 I had a viable alternative but then along came my daughter who took up all my time - and it was free. ho hum - maybe I'll win the LOTTery
Slammed Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 thats so crap, there too greedy not like thaey have not got millions in their banks! best get selling before 30th march then
Admin Vista Posted February 14, 2010 Admin Report Posted February 14, 2010 Thats a bit steep You think? £14.99 for a months classified ad from eBay against £30 for 2 weeks in autotrader (online only) or £49 for 6 weeks. eBay still looks to be the cheaper buy to me and I sold my Z4 recently through a classified ad on it, having had nothing but time wasters on Autotrader.
escortmatt Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 they want to start enfourcing the rules then when u sell something and they dont even turn up they should be banned
JAY PS Posted February 15, 2010 Author Report Posted February 15, 2010 i get more proper buyers from pistonheads and autotrader or forum ebayers just want a 100 per cent cars for 50 per cent prices!
