deltamal Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 I used to get a similar problem with seagulls sitting on the canvas canopy of my boat, got hold of a lifesize plastic owl, and fixed to the corner of the canopy, problem solved! should work ok with pidgeons as they arn't as brave as gulls! guess you could get one off ebay, worth a try.....
SAMMYBOY Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 Get a silhouette of a cat......or an eagle...lol....
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 was gonna say air rifle what about a crow banger
Copey Posted March 10, 2010 Author Report Posted March 10, 2010 the owl/eagle/cat idea aint bad! will give that a go, cheers
Trevmk3 Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 i think the owl thing might work as a bloke round the back of ours has one up his CB mast and doesnt seem to get them landing on it
GJUK Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 the owl/eagle/cat idea aint bad! will give that a go, cheers An owl will work. You can buy decoys online for around £15. It will attract crows though as they mob them. Jon
mexman123 Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 Rip the guttering down....that will fook their heads up.....
Mr2Caps Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 I've got a phone number for Dick Dastardly......
ratman Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 What pigeon is it wood or feral ? Plastic owls don’t work I’ve seen pigeons sitting on the owls heads I’ve also seen plastic owls with pigeon proofing spike stuck to its head to stop the pigeons sitting on the owl There is only two ways to stop it proof the area pigeon point system (spikes) but be aware it will just move to another part of your property remember it just wants shelter but its nesting material and crap will block your gutter and you will get water ingress to your property i.e. damp and water damage The 2nd option is In this day and age waving an air gun around is not cleaver as you may think you may look like Mr. Jo blogs Englishman but most people couldn’t tell a air gun from a AK47 and think your bin laden cousin and SO19 Firearm squad on you like a flash Be aware I know of a guy who shot one pigeon with out telling Mr. plod and he got fined 10k for the call out of SO19 and was covered in red dots and by all accounts he did soil his boxers I do this for a living and when we are shooting i have to write to the police and hand deliver it to the police station two days before then ring them when on site and ring them when we finished and I have even been visited when on site because some one has called plod to report us
Admin Mk2Jo Posted March 11, 2010 Admin Report Posted March 11, 2010 You could always use a car cover
Stu_B Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 Plastic owls don’t work I’ve seen pigeons sitting on the owls heads Yeah we had one at work & the pigeons used it as a perch
BIGKEV Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 cant you just sit outside and shoo them away - it might take a fair amount of your time up but at least you will have a nice clean car
GJUK Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 What pigeon is it wood or feral ? Plastic owls don’t work I’ve seen pigeons sitting on the owls heads I’ve also seen plastic owls with pigeon proofing spike stuck to its head to stop the pigeons sitting on the owl Maybe over time but if its a decent decoy, it would work. T The 2nd option is In this day and age waving an air gun around is not cleaver as you may think you may look like Mr. Jo blogs Englishman but most people couldn’t tell a air gun from a AK47 and think your bin laden cousin and SO19 Firearm squad on you like a flash It's unfortunate but you do have to be careful. If people think you are a threat or danger they will phone the plod and they have to respond with armed unit with all firearms calls related calls, sot the BASC inform me. Be aware I know of a guy who shot one pigeon with out telling Mr. plod and he got fined 10k for the call out of SO19 and was covered in red dots and by all accounts he did soil his boxers Well he must have been doing something very wrong to get a 10k fine, shooting from the middle of a road while stopping traffic or similar? I do this for a living and when we are shooting i have to write to the police and hand deliver it to the police station two days before then ring them when on site and ring them when we finished and I have even been visited when on site because some one has called plod to report us Maybe in a public place I can imagine the red tape is huge. But I go shooting most weekends. I have permission on a few farms and never have a problem. Look on BASC's web site, there's lots of legal bumf on there. Also if you're shooting at anything, public or rural. Get insured. Jon
