Copey Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 please dont turn this into a "cops are idiots" or "cops are all nob who are out to get us" or anythin like that, as we all know its not true and that most coppers are decent enough and just doing there job and no ranting about gettin given speeding fines etc as to be fair, you speed, you get a fine anyways today i was on my way home, bein followed by a cop so was being sensible etc i went round a couple of bends and then i got pulled over thinkin to myself "ahh, clocked the illegal plates" copper get out comes to talk to me and says "right, i basically pulled you over because you went over the white lines" so i say "yeah...whats wrong with that?" "you shouldnt go over the white lines, it marks the middle of the road and you are to stay on your side of the road, its illegal to cross the white lines" "no, they are broken white lines, its not illegal at all the cross them, its only illegal if they are solid" "erm, well, you shouldnt do it anyway!" "why not?" "you can't see whats coming round the bend and you could cause an accident, i am going to write you up for wreckless driving" which i thought, errr NO!! so said "i could see round the corner just fine and i could see that no cars were coming, if i hadn't been able to see round the corner i wouldnt have gone over the white lines as i would have been worried about causing an accident, so go on, write me up and i will see you in court where you will most likely get laughed at and told to go read up on the rules of the road" he scuttled off and spoke to the other officer in the passenger seat come back and goes "ok, on your way"
Stu_B Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 Sounds like you nearly failed the attitude test! I've been pulled for having a towbar! It was 2am down some country lanes & he was going the opposite way apparently there were lots of trailers being nicked.... how did he know I had a towbar! Having no exhaust (literally no exhaust, I took a short cut & tore it off at the downpipe) Doing a burnout (showing off to a girl at the lights next to me, was too busy leaning out my window & chatting to see the 5-0 roll up a few cars behind & then I let rip with the tyre smoke before the lights went green ) Got pulled for having a rear light out, I was driving down my girlfriends road at the time so I pulled up on to her drive, they both got out of the popo car & it was like I was holding up garlic to vampires. They said they couldn't do anything as I'd pulled up onto my property
FredTransit Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 Driving a blue van through the City of London during the hours of daylight. I was the first female to be stopped after Canary Wharf went up...... Gary was once stopped for driving too slowly (heavy traffic!) past the end of Downing Street. Both during the time the IRA was up to their tricks in the late 80s and early 90s.
CossiePower Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 the back end of the escort got abit frisky taking a right at a filter lane at some trafic lights and in that right had trun was some police waiting at the lights the turned round and pulled me over and done me for no seat belt on ( fair enought i guess abit pissed at the time) the they comented on a little tricle of water that had come out of the rad overflow and made a little wet patch on floor at of the car calling the car dangerous for leaking a trickel of water even through it had just come off of a duel carage way and water not long toped up

Copey Posted March 17, 2010 Author Report Posted March 17, 2010 Sounds like you nearly failed the attitude test! meh, i am normally polite, just the reason for pullin me over was daft and threat of an over the top charge/fine pissed me off
RetroNick Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 Good on you for standing your ground mate.
.pete. Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 Sounds like you nearly failed the attitude test! meh, i am normally polite, just the reason for pullin me over was daft and threat of an over the top charge/fine pissed me off You're right to stand your ground, but it's been known for the police to then do a detailed search of the car for any defects and then throw the book at them to get their own back. I'm sure most of our daily drivers have slight defects which we are "just about to repair" like bulbs, no water in the windscreen reservoir, slightly lower than legal tread on an odd tyre etc.
Fishtailparka Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 I got pulled for "looking like a gypsy". Obviously didn't really look like a gypsy or they wouldn't have bothered

Fiesta Steve Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 Back in the day, when me and Dave (Fezza) used to race around Ashford ring road we used to get stopped most nights. I rekon I've been stopped well over 100 times, probably nearer 200. Sometimes we'd get stopped twice in a night. I remember Fezza got stopped 3 times once and he hit the fooking roof the copper must have radio'd through and they must have said we'd been stopped twice that day already and they let us go straight away. The good old days.. The photo was taken just before 1am by the police, you can just imagine the noise of the 45's in the otherwise silent night !! I loved it, they weren't so keen. (They weren't keen on the Jeff Howe exhaust either !!)
bortaf Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 Once got stopped cos somone had reported i had a dead body in the back of me minibus I'd just picked me mate up from a 14 hour wait in hospital to get his broken arm set and plasterd (result of a bike crash) and he'd fallen asleep in the back coverd in bruises and a cast on his arm Got oulled in central london cos the copper said he could smell alcohol and thought it was my breath he was 4 cars back (i was delivering wines and spirits and had smashed a gallon bottle of bells in the van)

you'll get 10s on that Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 Got tugged back in the day in a totally stipped out v6 Mk2 Cortina. Back light wasn't working. Cop was real good about it ...said he'd help me fix it. "Thats handy" I said "as there is no spring to keep the boot lid up" A bit shocked he obliged. Whilst I changed the bulb his eyes wandered around the boot area.......then he realised he could see all the way through to the front of the car and was infact seeing the back of my bucket seats....." wheres all the interior gone?"......."OOOOOh thats all far to heavy ....less weight more speed" I replied. He chuckled and let me on my way.......quality.
