Slammed Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 or is it just me? working on my mk1, doing a bit of welding and grinding just now, some music on quite low and acceptable, stupid short cow comes knocking on the door she says-your music is too loud and the noise you are making is unaccpetable i know everyone is now out at work etc.. and my music isnt at an unaccpetable level etc.. she then goes to say other people have complained, i say who? she stumbles and thinks, now i dont like liers i say and said she is lying etc.. so she says she is gonna speak to my mum...WTF?! she dont care we hate them lol is it me who has shitty neighbours, they wait till the pre xflow is in on 40's gonna get up early just to piss them off
Mrs O/H/C Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 The best thing we did was move into a detached house ..we can make as much noise as we want !!! The only neighbours we have are horses, ducks and chickens
dawesy1700 Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 i had one neighbour who was an a**e and bithched about noise from a party, my 21st and the only one ive ever had at my house, so i made a point for the next few weeks of going round and telling him that theres a house with music on round the block, theres a car with it stereo bouncing, etc etc, and askin if he wants me to come and complian with him seein as my music was too loud for him, he eventually got my point and hasnt moaned since,

Stu_B Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 No but my neighbours neighbour is a mary! Always out working on his old car, making a right mess. Revving engines, dripping oil, filler dust. Then all his mates pop around with their noisy cars etc
SebringRS Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 Most of our neighbours don't mind and havent said anything, they've had to live with V8's, pintos etc. starting early and comin bk home late, not said a word doris down the road even comes out to listen But out over the road neighbours, we know when we've upset them, cus they blank us completely for ages, no skin of our backs I think what tipped them over the edge, was my mum arriving home from work at 11-12pm every night due to working in a restaraunt, in a Pontiac Trans-am with a very loud exhaust and something like 300+bhp But hey, one out of 30 or so isnt bad Everyones atleast over 70 rouynd here anyway
Trevmk3 Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 our neighbours couldnt give a toss, well they havnt said they do anyway and it isnt like we make noise late on anyway, think they would of complained when i came home last year with just the exhaust manifold and down pipe on the pinto had headache for about a day after that
Jiffer Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 must admit never had a problem with either of mine, one a total psycho and the other is very anal who never stops cutting lawns washing windows and presure washing his drive, that leave me alone and I leave them alone
bronze4door Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 i would make more noise and turn the music up if anyone complained
GT_lenny Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 when first got the keys to my house i pulled up with a couple of mates straight onto the drive and a burnout me in the car and two bikes doing the same. it kinda set the bar and no one has ever complained about noise even when i've had live bands on at my BBQ's and its a tiny garden in a highly populated area, there were a few people that heard the band from about a mile away that came just for a nosey i offered them a burger and a tinnie job done
joe1600 Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 Only ever had one complaint from a fairy up the road when I was doing my half shaft bearings, he soon changed his tone when he saw the size of the hammer I had in my hand he’s not come back to complain since
Durham Fiesta Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 when i lived with the parents i had no problems at all with the neighbours , most were interested by what i was doing so didn't mind the noise of grinders, hammers etc . Not sure whether they didn't dare say anything or they're just not bothered
dannyb Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 just like slammed, i used to live in a semi in bexleyheath. my brother and sister moved out soon followed by my mum and dad. so the best part of 4 yrs i lived in a massive house on my own and i did what all 20-odd year old would do and had parties most week ends. i bumped in to the neighbours a few years after i moved out and asked why did he never complain about the noise and he said 'what noise '

andy a Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 After reading all the crap already posted how about this for a refreshing change, try having some consideration for your neighbours I've got neighbours both sides of me who dont share my hobby and I respect that, and thats why I use hand tools as much as possible in place of air tools, have a lined garage to keep the noise levels down and only use grinders and anything else noisy with the doors shut when I know their not about, ok, so you have to plan your work a bit but it means that I get on alright with everyone in my village, apart from the twat 2 doors down who's always grinding and banging about on his drive, who the neighbours have had numerous rows with and phoned the local councils noise abatement line over on several occasions The thing is (as you'll probably find out as you get older), theres more than one way to skin a cat, neighbourly disputes cause a lot of bad feeling all around, and once they start on one thing they'll soon find something else to go at, or you can try to get on with them, find a solution to the problem and everybodies happy, the later worked for me after years of agro in my old house because of the cars...

He is conciderate about them though. he said he only works on his car between 11 and 5. nothing wrong with that. I work on my car most eavnings between 6 and 8-9 and my neighbours dont complain but i am in a shut garage most of the time so the noise doesnt get to far but most of them usually come and ask what im getting up to anyway and the guy next door is into cars awell.
Mr2Caps Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 When I lived at home it got a bit silly, I owned six cars at one point, not all OSF's, my mum had a car, my dad had a car, and my brother had a car, we could get them all off the road, but if you wanted to get to the one at the back of the queue out you had to move them all, now the youngest son of the neighbour was also into cars, and he had five minis, his brother had a car, his sister had a car, his mum had a car and his dad had a car........it was a shared drive arrangement and likewise if he wanted to get to the one at the back of his queue he had to get move the ones in front........sometimes Sunday mornings were interesting in our road.....brought it home to me one day when I got a taxi back from the pub and the driver said 'you live anywhere near the guys with all those cars?' But the neighbours never complained about the noise or the parking...........
Skoty Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 i have no respect for my neighbours to be honest there all arse holes! so i do what i want when i want haha. our estate used to be pretty good, now everyone seems to rent there houses out and the council have decided to move a load of scum in!
baz105e Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 ive never had any problems working in the garage at my parents house, we did have the next door neighbour come round and ask if 1 week in every 4 could i not make any noise before 4pm as his mrs was working nights, im totaly respective of that but if he's just come round telling me to make no noise because he couldnt hear bargain hunt on telly i'dve told him to bugger off ive never had a complaint about the noise of my engines either, and anybody who has heard my car running they know its loud. i had one incadent with a neighbour a couple of doors down, i was playing with my petrol rc car on the street and she came up the street screaming that she couldnt relax because of the sound of it. i basically told her to jog on and they've moved out since
