SebringRS Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 Put me down as an 18 year old on the RS, put it down as being garaged, only used for social, me being a student Cheapest i got from confused.com was ............. £7000.81
SebringRS Posted July 27, 2010 Author Report Posted July 27, 2010 But by adding my mum as a additional driver now down to £6000
NeilT Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 when it comes to insurence being 18 blows m8 i remember when they quote 1300 pounds for a 22 quid 1.1 205 lmao
SebringRS Posted July 27, 2010 Author Report Posted July 27, 2010 Thats it, i put the RS down as being worth £6500, which is what we paid for it Why would i pay more than its worth to insure it
aaron1980 Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 i had to pay £1900 when i was 17 (1997) on my mk1 xr2 at the time i was being paid 60 quid a week the problem is they know you have no choice so you just have to pay it. mind you the older you get the better it is as long as your good
SebringRS Posted July 27, 2010 Author Report Posted July 27, 2010 Just did a mk1 fiesta, 1.1l, ghia. Got a quote of £3068
john_3.0s Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 i seem to remember getting a quote for 2400 for my mk1 rs2000 back when u was about 21, car wanst even worth that back then! trouble is mate they have been responisble for many a pay out over the years. if it were my money i woudlnt insure you at 18 either!
escortmad79 Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 I got a quote when I was 21 on a mk1 Mexico for £4500!!
flyingbanana Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 they do sting young drivers these days......i find if they give you a high price they just dont want to insure you.....but with enough phone calls you can get a good deal, ive never paid more than £700 insurance since of the age of 18...was £200 cheaper before my stupidity many years ago hay hoo....just renewed mine today ...full comp, agreed value £100 just for insurance +admin charge ...good luck
SebringRS Posted July 27, 2010 Author Report Posted July 27, 2010 Im fairly pleased with the last quote i got, fettled the settings abit. Put both parents down as additional drivers, put the yearly milage as quite low And from that i got a quote of.........£5871 I think i done quite well concidering my 1st quote was £7000
5hane Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 as said on FB, its legal rape. Iirc my best quote is £3400 for a mk2 1.3 ghia, and it was more for a mk4 festia !!! looking forward to insuraing the 100e... not.
Yeomans22 Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 seems alot for a fiesta, when i was 19 i got insured on my 1.1 mk2 escort with a couple of mods for £330 fully comp with my dad as a named driver but me the owner and main driver. problem is they see all young drivers as boy racers and likly to crash. i did see some young lad this morning at 5;50am lock his his front wheels crash onto a roundabout through a road sign, completly writing off his car and thats the reason we pay so much when your young,
oliwally Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 Why insure your first car,its now a £60 on the spot fine and no points. was told this by a traffic cop as there's so much of it going on and the paper works a shite to do that his force issue them instead. unless its one they know who does that often or is a mouthy git.
aaron1980 Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 no insurance = 6 points it NOT worth the risk!
john_3.0s Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 no insurance = 6 points it NOT worth the risk! 6 grand or 6 points.... id risk it and take the points gotta be cheaper
SebringRS Posted July 27, 2010 Author Report Posted July 27, 2010 dont they impound your car for no insurance??
rallyesport04 Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 no insurance = 6 points it NOT worth the risk! 6 grand or 6 points.... id risk it and take the points gotta be cheaper got to catch you first to get 6 points i was having this conversation the other day with a friend a 17 year old dont have this sort of money this is why so many young people are uninsured i have always had car insurance as it was affordable i remember paying about £600 on a 1.0 205 as my 1st car an thought it was the end of the world if i had to pay kkkkk's i think i would get a £200 banger an probably would ride about with no insurance note: the above post is a opinion having no insurance is illegal an puts my premiums up if a uninsured hits my car i have to claim on my insurance not right is it. having no insurance is unaceptable thanks
lotusless Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 dont they impound your car for no insurance?? yes they do! just insure it as a standard 1.1 escort..... lots of others do
SebringRS Posted July 27, 2010 Author Report Posted July 27, 2010 Id rather pay £6000 for insurance than get my car crushed And was thinkin bout that, but if i had a crash i wouldnt get the money from insurance if they checked the car would i?? Or does it just ment i gotta be a careful driver
meXEco Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 Except those people who run without insurance put the prices up for the rest of us who do-on the spot fines dont think so-wanna risk losing your wheels-or worse actually hitting someone-a person or a child-come on think about it... Its so easy for them these days what with number plate recognition etc.-a few years ago maybe it was easier but you dont stand much chance now of running without insurance-if you cant afford it sorry dont drive...
Mr Sam Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 anyone condoning or encouraging driving with no insurance is a twat IMO your bumping everyones prices up and should die slowly and painfully ive been quoted £1200 on my daily 5 years NCB on the driveway low risk postcode.......and its a diesel
livewire7116 Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 i think the fines should a lot higher for no insurance, imo i pay my insurance and so should everyone else, if you cant afford it then dont drive! even at 37 im still paying over £400 for a diesel estate car with 8yrs no claims, and despite my escort being off the road for over 2 years its always been insured so im building up 2 lots of NCB
sambo Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 Driving without insurance is totally unacceptable. if an uninsured knobhead pulled out on me if i was in my MK1 Escort.... i would make him pay with his blood.
Slammed Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 i rang footman james for a quote fooking cheap for a 17 year old in a corsair..everyone said they dont cover undr 21's but i rang up and said im 17 and the bloke gave me a quote?
mexman123 Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 An 18 year old insuring a car for third party risks, isn't insuring his own car....whether it be worth £100, or £10,000.....the insurers are covering the damage that the driver can do with that car....The premium against the value of the car is irrelavent..
