steve dray Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 I know it's difficult without inspecting the car but I would like to get the anglia repainted this winter, I have a fibreglass bonnet and boot to go on, 2 new doors (need some repairs) and a few bits and bobs need tidying on the body, and I want the engine bay repainted. the car would be stripped by me ready for repair/paint. Anyone give me a ball park figure on cost?? I have limited experience in bodywork and I dont wanna risk ruining the car!
zetecmk2 Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 where are you? need to see how far you want to go before we can say, really
steve dray Posted October 23, 2010 Author Report Posted October 23, 2010 south east but distance isnt important for the right price!!
GT_lenny Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 it would depend on the quality of fit with the fibre glass panels and the extent of other reapirs needed but me n the guy who did mine would charge about £1000-£1200 for a full hit including shuts engine bay and fitting new front end panels
KJ 1320 Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 Maybe we could get a bit of a deal going here Steve,as I want mine repainted aswell
auldy Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 Id say around the £1500 mark for doing a few repairs like you mentioned, gapping up the f/glass panels and full paint in a solid colour. auld
w p e Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 Maybe we could get a bit of a deal going here Steve,as I want mine repainted aswell i've got some cans bring it down oh and think of the extra weight

They need the trim clip holes welding up and one of them will need some rust cutting out but not much
Skoty Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 im paying £1600 to get my anglia done and thats everything painted insides, underneath, boot, enginebay. all hes getting is a bare metal shell. not much filler work to do though.
Admin Vista Posted October 24, 2010 Admin Report Posted October 24, 2010 Some hugely different prices around then, the full prep and paint job on my van is £6k and that was the cheapest of the estimates, the others were around £8k!
fieldy1972 Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 just paid 3K for my escort. new front wings, front panel, slam and hinge panels . resprayed whole car. including engine bay. quite a bit of body repairs and change of colour from yellow to red. i supplied the fibreglass boot and bonnet. now got to put it all back together again
Skoty Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 yer mine would of been more. but i know the guy,
MinesGT Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 To be honest, we would be looking for around £2500 to £3000 to respray a fully stripped out shell, both inside and out. Obviously the amount of repairs to be carried out and the standard of finish can be a major factor. A lot can depend on what you actually want. Some people are quite happy for the car to be just one colour and shiny, others want trophy winning standard. Its the proverbial "how long is a piece of string" !!! Good luck

Good luck Yeah it's a difficult area tbh, I mean I am not looking to win show and shine,as the car gets used and abused!! but it's starting to get 'tatty' and I want to catch it before it gets bad
zetecmk2 Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 you know we make sence measured up workshop for our oven this week
sambo Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 If the distance thing doesnt work out with Zetecmk2 etc, i can recommend a guy who painted my Escort. He puts paint on great and is well priced. He owns a twin cam himself and loves osf's. Let me know if you want his number. i can also recommend an amazing bodywork/painter but he will be relatively expensive. His work is amazing though. Both are in Bexhill/Ninfield area. Let me know mate.
steve dray Posted October 27, 2010 Author Report Posted October 27, 2010 Well, after a lot of thought I had a word with my boss at work and I'm going to get the bodywork done in our bodyshop at work. He is doing me a good deal and I can pay for it monthly. Thanks to you all for your price advice and input
Dan492 Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 My MK1 Fiesta is currently undergoing it's restoration. The best quote I got was just over £1100. This includes; - New front wings, drivers door, front panel, and bonnet fitted. - Dent removed from around fuel cap - Full respray inside and out (going Signal Orange)
