We hope you enjoy the new look forum. Because we have rushed to get this in, because of the hack attack, there are some things that aren't as polished as they should. We will be working to fix those over the coming weeks, but I'll outline some features and and their status. The top menu looks a bit lopsided at the moment, but that's because we've disabled a couple of features until they're finished.

  [*:3amkbk7w]The Forum - There are a whole host of new features, including subscribing to threads that interest you, and adding people as friends, and even foes. Have a good play around.
   
  [*:3amkbk7w]Contributors - We are changing over to a new way of doing this. But before we can, we need to transfer the database of contributors. Because of this, you won't be purple and you'll have no member number shown. And there is no link to become a contributor if you want to be. This is the top priority.
   
  [*:3amkbk7w]The Classifieds - The classified ads are going to be separate from the forum. There is a link at the top of the page. We would like you to create some new ads and test it and give us feedback. We are not removing the current for sale rooms until we (and you) are happy with the new way.
   
  [*:3amkbk7w]Events - We have an event calendar, but it's currently empty. We are going to be filling it up was we can.
   
  [*:3amkbk7w]The Shop - We are in the process of creating the items. It will re-appear once everything has been updated.
   
  [*:3amkbk7w]The Gallery - This has been removed. We may be installing a new one, and were in the process of selecting one when we were hacked, so it's been put on the back burner.
   
  [*:3amkbk7w]The Garage - This isn't available for this version of the forum, so it's been axed.
   
  [*:3amkbk7w]The Sponsors - We will have a page for all sponsors saying what they do and how to contact them.
   
  [*:3amkbk7w]The 'Bay - These are the ebay auctions.
   
  [*:3amkbk7w]Spinning OSF Logo for new posts - We're looking at replacing/updating this. Not a priority but it's on our 'to do' list.
   
  [*:3amkbk7w]Colour Variations - There are now 10 styles for you to choose from if you don't like the default. The odd numbers are 'narrow' style, and the even ones are 'wide'.
   
  [*:3amkbk7w]Searching - The index is rebuilding and it may be a few hours before it's working ok.

 

We would like you to post any queries or suggestions on this thread. Don't post 'It looks ace' or 'It looks crap' here.

I would just like to say that I know you have taken a day off work to do all of this for free for us and I for one need to give credit where it is definitely due! So, well done Mikey for all your hard work and spare time You deffo 'da man

 

As for all of our members, we would like to hear your constructive comments and views but please give yourself time to get used to the new format before offering your thoughts Change is not always easy (I can't see a winking smilie yet but I am winking lol )

Great work and thanks for all the effort.

 

A couple of things:

 

I had to request a password reset. This wasn't a problem. The password reset came from the address Zetecvan@gmail.com. Do you intended to change this to be a more official sounding address? I originaly thought it might be left over from the hacker trying to fish my passwords.

 

Secondly, The avatars of some users (for example Big Kev) over-lap the text. Might be because he has an animated gif. This is true for both I.E. and Google Chrome.

 

I'll get back to enjoying OSF now. Once again thanks for all your efforts.

I have the same problem - can't log in to any of the tabs at the top - I have put a post up for Mike in our staff room - I expect he will be having a beer or two after working all fecking day on the site so give him a little while to answer

 

Russ ... try picking style 4 on the left side menu - mine was doing the same on style 1 which I think is the default May not make a difference for you but it worked for me.

I'll have a look at the problems in a short while. You should be able to use your existing forum username and password, but as that's not been the case I'll have a look and see what's wrong. You shouldn't have to re-register.

i had the login problem but re done the password and it loaded

 

havnt looked much but i think its a bit cramped up a little to much,making it harder to read the posts

 

and ive noticed that you cant see all the post by people has the avtar covers the text

You look to have a very small screen there (or low resolution). The narrow styles will be more suitable, but as you say it all looks cramped.

 

Leave it with me, I'll have a look and see if I can reduce the size of avatars on the narrow screens.

hi guys great new look but. when veiwing some of the threads that have pictures some are cut narrow. on lotousless new car thread all im getting is code no photos. will there be a function to go to next or previous thread? cant get into calasifieds just asking as i know its a lotof hard work been put into building and running this site so big thank you to the un sung heros of this site

Avatars can only have a max width of 100 pixels. This is to prevent them overlapping the text on the narrow styles. If your avatar has suddenly got squashed, this is why.

 

Resize it to a max size of 100x150

Found it thanks! Shame there's no black template but it's not the end of the world. The only one I don't like is the white one. That looks like there's a formatting error!

Oh, and I preferred the smilies on phpBB2......
