Hi Simon,

I know Jo had a few problems with her 48 s to start with, i think colin had a real mision trying to get them to run right, they were the spanish ones :?

I am after buying a pair of weber 50's. But ive heard that the new ones made by the spanish company are crap and that the only ones to go for are the old italian ones. Does anyone no if this is true or not?

They are super expensive if you can find some. I watched some manky old italian 48's that sold for £650 on ebay recently !!

..and they talk with a different accent

But both will insist on taking a Siesta in the middle of the day just when you need the lazy B'stards to work or at least answer the phone!

the spanish ones work just aswell after a couple of hours cleaning out the internals but the rough cast is very cheap and poor looking but hopefully as weber are now back in italy we might get a desent carb again

yeah if i remember the carbs mk2jo bought were the first batch of spanish ones after weber went back after the strike and then closing down for a 2 weeks holiday  i had a major problem with the floats being all being wrong and not sort of fitting/working properly , it seemed like the whole carbs had just been thrown together, the couple of sets i,ve bought in the last few months have been ok and they seem to have smoothed out the rough casting , the only thing i dont like is the poxy locking wire holding the choke securing bolts in i seem to stab myself everytime on it as its as sharp as a fooking needle :D
