SebringRS Posted June 8, 2011 Author Report Posted June 8, 2011 I'll leave them too it And are king edward potatoes commonly used for smoking??......is that a bit like smoking through an apple??
morcheen Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 What a joke i spoke to them about 3 years ago saying that we don't want a meet there anymore becouse of it starting to get out of hand. But they siad no probs we will continue the ford night as it seems popular. they meant 'as long as it brings in the money' i think i doubt they cared until it harmed them.could see this getting out of hand the last few times i went. speed bumps were talked about a few years back but nothing happened.no matter what car club night is on the idiot going mad will always be attracted. amazed it has gone so long without the old bill getting involved.i did hear the owner was one in the force ,so if that is true might have got a bit more time than any other owner would have.i think you need to dissaociate the osf name from their statement,or are they passing the buck ?
442 Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 I seem to have started something just out to cause trouble eh? stirer!! Yeah same lad who leaves his poor ol dad to push the mk1 down the fire up road and then returns when he stops to queue hey tom!!!
w p e Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 so who from on here was there causing chaos and dragging the osf name down?. no matter where you go the plastic cocks kill it [ chelsea bridge guildford back in the day] fook of back to lakeside and on the way make good use of the bridge
Grizzley Dell Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 the thing is chaps that sort of stuff has been going on at the ace for as long as i can remember, when i used to go there on the bikes many years ago people raced up and down and did wheelies, burnouts etc. things dont change, i can remember the old bill watching & doing nothing. the ace has always been the same. actually thats b.llshit, it used to be a good place to go, coffee was crap, but inexpensive.

Kasper Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 I can't say I'm hugely surprised this has happened. I think the police have been more than lenient and have turned a blind eye to a lot of the goings on at the Ace. If people are stupid enough to start pelting police cars with things then obviously this is going to stop. I'm not condoning the behaviour of the people doing donuts etc, just stating fact. It's probably a good thing as it's amazing nobody has been killed! More and more meets and events are being closed down by the police due to the behaviour of a minority. That's the problem with open events that anyone can attend, you are always going to get a few idiots who ruin it for everyone else. Maybe the way forward for the car scene is to form proper clubs with properly managed meets/events. I'd rather have to pay a membership and meet with like minded people who are capable of acting sensibly than get police attention draw to my car for being at a meet with a few morons (that's my 2p's worth anyway!).

FredTransit Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 The thing that's bothering me about all of this is the fact the blame has been associated and heaped on Old Skool Ford the forum and club. It doesn't look good for us.
Admin Vista Posted June 8, 2011 Admin Report Posted June 8, 2011 Please all feel free to add your comments on their FB page. i.e. that this meet had nothing to do with OSF and that there hasn't been a club sanctioned meet at the ACE for around three years. They kept using our name despite requests not to for one reason, it was profitable for them to do so.
Mrs O/H/C Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Tut Tut ..have always behaved at Ace,Imperial way, boxhill and Chelsea Bridge etc

The thing is (and I'm not sticking up for the Ace) their get out can be 'Old Skool' is a generic put in front of a lot of marques, so despite it's the name of this club, it can be argued the meet wasn't on behalf of the club, just aimed at the owners of the type of Ford. Not that that helps, it will still reflect on the site.

mk2 mike Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 To be fair some people have always driven like cocks whenever there's a meet, not just nowadays. I used to go to the palace every fri/sat without fail in the 90's and there was some shocking driving. A mate of mine in a fiat turbo hit a mother and daughter on the top roundabout, killing the little girl. That started the end of palace as it was, and a speed camera soon went up and the tea hut went. The night before that a lad being a dick in a flatnose porsche rear ended a jelly mould causing serious ingury to the occupants. Then in 2002 a girl i worked with was killed on a motorbike by boy racers also at crystal palace. She was on the back and died instantly when one of two cars racing went onto the wrong side of the road and hit her bike head on. Her fiance who was the rider survived but lost both his legs and has since tried to commit suicide. I was also at thurrock around 94 the night it all went wrong and the mobs caused untold damage to trees and fencing. The few months after that police blocked the roundabout preventing anyone entering the car park. I stopped going after that. I guess what i'm saying is wherever there are young lads, cars, and young girls to impress there's always going to be silly driving. The difference is 20 odd years back we were in 60 bhp 1300 escorts now the 'yoof' are in 300+bhp evos with much more potential to cause havoc. I'm not claiming to be an angel either, whenever the rain came i was the first to head out to a roundabout or the peckham one way system and get the back out but i would never do it if there were people around, just in case i lost it. (and i did frequently. There's still a tree in peckham that bears the scars of my mk2 ) As has been said I think the biggest shame about this recent event (apart from coppers being stoned )is that it was associated with this site (albeit wrongly). Everyone on here knows the truth but those who don't will see one of our cars with an OSF sticker and say "oh look, i bet they were one of them causing trouble at the ace"
stuartp Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 We went over to Thurrock a few times in my mates Fiesta. I also remember when the police turned us away from Lakeside (wouldn't have minded but we were going to the cinema that night, not the cruise) I also remember fondly going down to Southend in his mk1 Escort (until they put the nasty speed bumps in) around the same sort of time For me it was Dartford one way system where I saw the most dangerous driving, fortunately never saw anyone killed but that was more by luck than judgement. I had a metro at the time so it certainly wasn't me racing round causing trouble Also, I live near Peckham so I'm going to have to look out for a mk2 shaped damaged tree now
stuartp Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 when i looked on Retards Club earlier the ace cafe had commented on my wall post (that it had nothing to do with us) saying that the police issue and the cancellation was only because of dangerous driving and that nothing was thrown. It now seems to have disappeared
Stiggy Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Then in 2002 a girl i worked with was killed on a motorbike by boy racers also at crystal palace. She was on the back and died instantly when one of two cars racing went onto the wrong side of the road and hit her bike head on. Her fiance who was the rider survived but lost both his legs and has since tried to commit suicide. Rant Start. Well that happened in Mitcham. The two involved were not from Crystal Palace and had never frequented there. They were not racing at the time nor were they over the center line of their side of the road. The guy that hit them had no insurance but did a deal so that he never did time, the guy that was not involved in hitting anyone but was also overtaking got 6 years, he did not do the full time, but also got badly burnt pulling the burning rider off of the wrecked bike, while bystanders walked backwards for fear of the bike exploding. Yes a sorry, pityfull incident, but they do happen. But that is in no way connected with what is going on at Ace Cafe. It's a bunch of complete Kernob's, that need some strong action from the police, start issuing points and fines. 4am I get an £80 fine for not wearing a seat belt, as they are clamping down on mini cab drivers not wearing seat belts. Shame they don't clamp down on the shower of shite at Ace Cafe. Rant over.
mk2 mike Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 @ stiggy, I think you misread what I was saying. At no point did I say the accident of my friend had anything to do with the ace cafe. My point was exactly the opposite, and that people drive like clowns everywhere, not just at the ace cafe (as you said). Don't understand your comment about your ticket though. You chose to not wear your seat belt, got caught, got fined, end of. BTW it's a £60 non endorsable ticket for no seatbelt, not £80. Anyhow btt, funny how the cafe is saying nothing happened in relation to the stone throwing. They're obviously trying to distance themselves and protect their reputation. Shame they dont care as much about the reputation of this site and you guys to put something on fb clarifying osf's lack of involvement with the meet.
Stiggy Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Maybe have been £60 was a while ago. The point was 4am road block in City of London for Mini Cab Drivers not wearing seat belts. Crime of the year, resources better utilized else were ??? Put a bit more effort into catching the people doing wrong, like all the openly dealing drug dealers around here, or the plebs at Ace Cafe, if I had been stopped with a small amount of cannabis at 4am I would have got a street warning not a fine. I was not implying it had anything to do with the Ace Cafe, but then again it does not really apply to this discussion. Something needs to be done to stop it, or as they used to do organise it as a meet at proper venue were safety comes first.
Admin Vista Posted June 9, 2011 Admin Report Posted June 9, 2011 It looks like the ACE cafe delete anything from their Retards Club page that states the truth about it being a meet they arrange themselves and NOT an OLD SKOOL FORD sanctioned meet. Both the comments I made to that effect yesterday have been deleted by them
