It's woefully inaccurate - states 162 Capri 280's which is wrong, there's more than double that.

Remember, this site only list licensed cars.

I've seen it criticised elsewhere for the same reasons by owners of other models who know better.

Sorry, my point is that there are plenty of cars that are neither licensed or SORN or that are not on the DVLA database at all. So yes, it is the DVLA figures which are incorrect so far as total numbers are concerned. You'd have to conceed that previously unknown/forgotton cars are being discovered all the time.

In cases where people have throughly researched the actual surviving numbers of cars their numbers come out higher.

The example I gave was of the 280 Capri, the site quotes 161 where as if you check the 280 Register or Dr Brooklands site you'll see the actual figure is over 400. I've seen people make similar observations with other models.

That's all I'm saying - the site has limitations.

I saw that the other day on another forum I use

only 23 Escort 35 1100's (my Van) of which only 6 were on the road in 2010, how rare is that?

Does make you wonder if you should go mental an mod it to your tastes/look your after or restore to Standard. And while the figures may only be as acurate as, i have still yet to see more mk1 escort supers kicking about  I myself only know of 3 one being my own, a red one on ebay and a navy blue one in northern ireland.

 You'd think that wouldn't you? But no it doesn't, not even remotely. I might feel like that about an RS1600, RS1800 or Twin Cam as they were all desirable and collectable vehicles to start with. A base 1100 cc van though? Nope, no qualms what so ever.

Yes thats a fair point. MKI Supers are rare you dont see many about im suprised there are as many as 81. The problem is people dont realise how few of certain models of cars are actually left. Some of the models of MKI/MKII Escorts are pretty much extinct. Survival figures for the cheaper end models (e.g MKI DeLuxe MKII Popular)are often alot lower than the higher spec cars even though the production and sales figures would have been much higher.

Well, I would say there's deffo more than 5 1979 RS2000's out there :?

What did you enter to get that statistic Jo?

Edit: OIC

Search for it another way though and there is, loads more in fact. A peculiarity of the different DVLA offices at the time giving the same model different names according to what was entered on the form when it was registered. i.e. RS / RS2000 / RS 2000
