ZetecVan 2.0 Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk It doesn't split mk1, mk2 etc, but generally you can 'guess' what they are.
mk2 mike Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 Cracking site that It shows only 79 of my car left, compared to over 5500 15 years ago I wonder if anyone can find an 'extinct' car in 2010?
Admin Vista Posted June 11, 2011 Admin Report Posted June 11, 2011 I saw that the other day on another forum I use only 23 Escort 35 1100's (my Van) of which only 6 were on the road in 2010, how rare is that?
FredTransit Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?q=ford+transit Interesting but wildly inaccurate! It's taxed and SORN only, not including those that were off the road before SORN came in. Not to mention the fact it reckons there's 32 transit 175s left. I am convinced there's more than that!
Oscar. Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 It's woefully inaccurate - states 162 Capri 280's which is wrong, there's more than double that. Remember, this site only list licensed cars. I've seen it criticised elsewhere for the same reasons by owners of other models who know better.
over_head_cam Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 If it lists how many are taxed or on a SORN then it is accurate to that degree surely.
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted June 12, 2011 Author Report Posted June 12, 2011 It is only quoting the official figures the government/dvla quote at http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/statistics/da ... licensing/ So if it's inaccurate, its not the site, it's the DVLA.
Oscar. Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 Sorry, my point is that there are plenty of cars that are neither licensed or SORN or that are not on the DVLA database at all. So yes, it is the DVLA figures which are incorrect so far as total numbers are concerned. You'd have to conceed that previously unknown/forgotton cars are being discovered all the time. In cases where people have throughly researched the actual surviving numbers of cars their numbers come out higher. The example I gave was of the 280 Capri, the site quotes 161 where as if you check the 280 Register or Dr Brooklands site you'll see the actual figure is over 400. I've seen people make similar observations with other models. That's all I'm saying - the site has limitations.
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted June 12, 2011 Author Report Posted June 12, 2011 Yes, I totally appreciate what you say. You can only report on cars that you know about.

Does make you wonder if you should go mental an mod it to your tastes/look your after or restore to Standard. And while the figures may only be as acurate as, i have still yet to see more mk1 escort supers kicking about I myself only know of 3 one being my own, a red one on ebay and a navy blue one in northern ireland.

You'd think that wouldn't you? But no it doesn't, not even remotely. I might feel like that about an RS1600, RS1800 or Twin Cam as they were all desirable and collectable vehicles to start with. A base 1100 cc van though? Nope, no qualms what so ever.

Yes thats a fair point. MKI Supers are rare you dont see many about im suprised there are as many as 81. The problem is people dont realise how few of certain models of cars are actually left. Some of the models of MKI/MKII Escorts are pretty much extinct. Survival figures for the cheaper end models (e.g MKI DeLuxe MKII Popular)are often alot lower than the higher spec cars even though the production and sales figures would have been much higher.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted June 15, 2011 Admin Report Posted June 15, 2011 Well, I would say there's deffo more than 5 1979 RS2000's out there
Admin Vista Posted June 15, 2011 Admin Report Posted June 15, 2011 Well, I would say there's deffo more than 5 1979 RS2000's out there What did you enter to get that statistic Jo? Edit: OIC http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/fo ... rt_rs_2000 Search for it another way though and there is, loads more in fact. A peculiarity of the different DVLA offices at the time giving the same model different names according to what was entered on the form when it was registered. i.e. RS / RS2000 / RS 2000 http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/ford_escort_rs
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted June 17, 2011 Author Report Posted June 17, 2011 Don't forget a generic search for RS2000 will bring up the later ones (Mk5?) too
Admin Vista Posted June 17, 2011 Admin Report Posted June 17, 2011 yeah it does but if you look at the column for: Vehicles licensed or SORNed in 2010, by year of registration, you c an weed out the chaff from the wheat
