4parajon Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 Bought the car in '99 for £2500 Between then and Nov' 2006 Probably spent about £1500 on various bits and pieces, new head, twin carbs, new suspension etc Between Nov' 06 and Jan 07 about £4500 for cossie engine and all the other bits. Total so far £8500.......which I don't think is too bad for what I've got, granted it's a lot of money though.
Rick Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 3k at the min if i had paid for work to be done prob bout 10 lol
MK5 Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 I reckon I owe my car.... It has got me everywhere I want to go for the last 8 or so years in style and probably still cost less than a modern pile of crap if you include depreciation ^^^ agree completely!! i've had my car for 2 years now. first couple of months she stayed with a mate (thanks Steve) as I had no where to put her... car cost £150... paid about £100 to have her delivered (paid in parts) i guess i've spent about £100 on service parts, and yesterday spent £70 on 2 tyres... Essex Boy and my son got her MOT'd for my Xmas pressie - i don't know how much that cost them
Stu_B Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 Not much!!! £400 for the car £250ish for the wheels & tyres £20ish for halfords satin black £60 for a rad A bloody billy bargain I reckon, although it the mo it has no MOT and needs a new prop so I recon that figure will be goin' up
cyrix Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 You still after a prop for one, thought you had it sorted, Ive got two from 1600X-Flows with good Universal joints if you require one. As for my current resto Mk3 2 door. Car - £2000 could have had cheaper but I wanted an unmessed with, original, solid shell. Respray/body resto and a few shell mods, somewhere in the region of £1500 - 2000. Swaymar 3.0 V6 - Came from a car i broke but easily 1500. Not even going to go any further, I recon 7/8,000 all in more possibly.
bortaf Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 Bowt £600 including buying it and ALL the conversion work
Stu_B Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 You still after a prop for one, thought you had it sorted, Ive got two from 1600X-Flows with good Universal joints if you require one. I got myself a single piece porop just need to get new ends on it - cheers though!

mk2_escort_chick Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 just over £23k but it was over nine years so thats about £2555 a year and i wasted a lot of money on things i dident need still worth it to me now its finished Your car is gorgeous!!!!! Worth every penny!!
deluxe Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 bet it has cost me less over the seven years ive had it than first year's depreciation and interest for a fook us bought with borrowed money. Which is nowhere nearly as cool as any leafsprung rwd ford So dont ask what your osf ows you, but what you ow your osf
luz008 Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 mines probably further from being completed now than when i brought it and i bet its cost about £6k so far - keep buying things i dont need though - i dont wanna sell them though in case i want them in the future. but it'll be worth it in the end - just dont tell the missus
over_head_cam Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 Probably about a grand so far, including tax and insurance
72mk1escort Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 About £400 overall and its not finished yet but i was a lucky bugger and got the car for free I had to drag it out of a jungle basically which was quite interesting I think once ive finished it it'll ow me a grand
sambo Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 lost track really but including buying the car, around 5 1/2 - 6K it gets expensive just sorting out a new engine with all the little ancilleries to get etc. Just getting the little things add up, like when you order a part from rally design for instance, you then get slapped with the VAT and P+P!!
mr squidian Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 hmmm car was free pannels... around about £100 wheels ... free everything else ............... free but im never selling it anyway ............. EVER
atomic punk Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 Escort. Car = Free Panels prob £80 Wheels & ghia seats plus other sundries robbed from a dead ghia = £20 Calipers discs servicing etc £100-200ish Probably £20 in rattlecan primer £30 for a twinchoker and £20 on a gasket set when I blew the head gasket So virtually naff all in the 5 years Ive had it Cortina Cost = £600 Brakes = £100 Still to go - set of doors, a service and a lick and polish for summer Motoring on the cheap
LUKE261 Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 so far about £3000 but in for respray atm and with new mods i want i reckon looking about £4500 when im done
